Herald: Severin, agent to meet to discuss his future with 96.9

Jay and his agent will meet with Greater's bigwigs on Monday to discuss his future with the station,
according to Jessica Heslam of the Herald. The article mentions recent ratings as well as speculation
that Greater "can't afford to pay him anymore". Maybe if he stays it may have to be at a lower
salary?

If they did part ways, you wonder...
5:30-9: Imus
9-noon: McPhee
12-3--Jim and Margery
3-6 or 3-7: Michael Graham
7-10: lower-costing local host, or syndie live or tape delayed (Hannity?)

Or not.

Funny I was not aware he was making 7 figures till this latest "incident" occurred.
The TTK cowards should just fess up that they are broke & buy him out and move on.
Perhaps Howie might feel a little better today knowing he will still get the big bucks.

This morning, I looked at the WTKK website (www.wtkk.com) to check their schedule, and there isn't a broadcast schedule to be found at the WTKK website.

What's more, Jay Severin isn't mentioned at all. It's as if he never existed. To me, this means there's more going on at WTKK than a "suspension" of Mr. Severin.

BTW, does anyone know why Joe and Huggy are not on the air this morning (Saturday)?

Severin is just not a likeable person. I agree with 99% of what he says, but I don't like him. I can say the same about Gerry Callahan. They both just get too personal and mean spirited. They both could get their message across without name calling. What they don't seem to get is that they sometimes turn off people (like me) who agree with them and others dismiss them without hearing what they have to say just because they said it.

For instance Callahan has stated several times that Deval Patrick has increased state jobs by 5,000 since he's been governor. I wish he would give his source for this information rather than just call Patrick a moon-bat. I suspect he's right, but a lot of people don't believe him just because Callahan said it.

This Severin thing is hard for me...I'm very torn about it. Hopefully the right decision is made whatever that is...hate to see people lose their jobs, but business is business.

Joe & Huggy just had the day off.

Right after the incident broke, I checked WTKK's site and saw the version that's now up except that
there was a banner for a contest involving Severin (it began with "Jay Severin's brain is on fire..." for
some reason) but yes, no lineup. And now, no mention of Jay, not even on the podcast page.
It's up in the air...

So what did "Scat" lie about? The marital status, the prize, the graduate degree, the name?

Severin isn't good enough to make it without the us-against-them verbal tactics. He just did what he had to do.
It will be interesting to hear what one of his rabid followers--E.Andelman--says about him tomorrow evening?

Eddie Andelman is still on the radio?

Blazer to be honored in June...

Interesting: WTKK's Grace Blazer will receive the "2009 Judy Jarvis Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to Talk Radio by a Woman."
http://www.greatermedia.com/press/detail.php?ID=482

She now has to deal with the Severin situation. Would it be embarassing for her to accept the award next
month, as her station has a volatile situation with its pm drive host? We'll see how this pans out. (Check
WTKK's website tomorrow perhaps after Jay and his agent confer with GM...who knows, will it say
"3 pm The Michael Graham show"..? Time will tell.

Jay is apparently filling the role that John Ziegler used to play as a bat-shiat nuts loose cannon moving market to market intent on self-destruction. It worked. Will work here too.

Wouldn't you classify Grace Blazer firing Severin as being an "Outstanding Contribution to Talk Radio by a Woman"?

*zing*

We have a winner!

MOVED: TIO: Jay Severin Suspended/Fired?

I think Severin's cost-benefit ratio is totally out of whack for today's moribund advertising environment, and he isn't doing a bloody thing to help himself. He has the work ethic of a public works official, an undeserved and ridiculously high salary, and position statements that anger too many people for any sort of ratings success. WTKK cannot afford a 'live large' host like Severin. At one point I applauded his ideology, but in short order he chased me and thousands of people away for the reasons noted above.

It is a steep, tall cliff for radio hosts. One moment you're a 'big wheel' in a Top-10 market and the next you're groveling for work as a dishwasher. These people just get way too full of themselves, and in this economy it's silly for someone to just lose all sense of composure and reason. Does WTKK make more off Severin than they spend on him? With his approach to the business, I doubt it.

BRW says still no resolution to Jay situation; VB filling in today.

Greater's statement:
""WTKK and Greater Media value an open and vigorous dialogue, but we also strongly adhere to basic principles of civility, common decency and respect for all cultures. We believe Jay's suspension is the best way to uphold both of these corporate policies. WTKK Management met with Jay Severin and his agent today. He will continue to remain on suspension until further notice."
