Thanks for letting me know. I was going to have asked that question on this board.

I'm not surprised that Binswanger was removed from the 6 and 11 P.M. newscasts. But I am surprised he's leaving WBZ. I expected that he'd be moved to the 12 Noon and 4 P.M. newscasts.

Also, I thought WBZ wasn't going to move "Dr. Phil" to 3 P.M. (and expand their early-evening local news block from 4-5 and 6-6:30 P.M. to 4-6:30 P.M.) until next Monday (January 9th). Or has the station decided to do so early??

i meant to say 6 and 11 this week. he's on at 5,6 and 11 starting
next week. wonder who'll they have anchoring the 4 o'clock hour?
since there are more younger female viewers at 4pm, it will probably
be someone under 45.

According to today's Globe, Sara Underwood will be joined by weekender Ken MacLeod at 4pm until a permanent anchor is hired.

MacLeod is good. He's been a steady weekend guy for them.
Didn't he replace Binswanger on weekends when Josh left to go to
the History Channel?

This is a little off topic but today(friday) i was watching CBS4 news at 11 and Jack Williams was sitting on the left side of the desk with Lisa Hughes on the right side. I have noticed that on every other station (besides fox25) this is the opposite with the male anchor on right, female on left. This was also the case on CBS4 until tonight. Why do you suppose they switched it, and why do they sit that way in the first place?

Great question! I noticed the same thing today, watching CBS4 News online. On all afternoon/evening newscasts, apparently the male/female positions have been swapped.

As far as I can remember, WBZ ALWAYS had the female on the left, and the male on the right... going back as far as the Jack and Liz days.

Do you think WBZ is trying to just spice things up a little bit by doing this switch? Maybe they think Jack can handle the banter with Lobel better with Lisa... and maybe they want some "Lobel and Liz Walker" kind of relationship to develop between Lisa and Ken Barlow. Who knows?

Definitely Liz on the left with Jack on the right in the 80's, when I was in school in Boston.

At one point during the newscast, Liz and Jack would swivel in their chairs in a way that they appeared to switch places! However, it was just the swivel and the camera angle.

Ahh, for the carefree days of college, to have time to notice these types of things...
