Herb Score dead at 75

This is a sad day for Indians fans everywhere. As a youngster, I spent many a night tuned to Herb's broadcasts when I was supposed to be sleeping, and much later, listened to his call of the Tribe's playoff runs in the mid-90's. I'll never forget his exclamation following Tony Fernandez' home run early on in what proved to be the decisive game of the '95 ALCS: "The Indians are goin' to the World Series...maybe!"

To me, Herb represented everything good about the Indians, even amid the worst of times. Too often, he had to witness his team be one of the worst that ever played in the American League. As upset as I was for the Tribe when they lost in Game 7 of the '97 World Series, I recall feeling even worse for Herb since he never had the chance to call a game for a team that won it all. Now he never will. R.I.P. Herb.

Herb was just an ordinary guy with no big ego. That made him easy for us all to relate to. We also lost Gib Shanley earlier this year. RIP Herb & Gib.
