Herbert Coward of "Deliverance"

I ran into him one time outside the Dollar General in Candler, NC, he used to have a booth at the flea market next door. Sadly, I didn't get to say hello. He was in his truck eating a bag of cheese doodles.

Rest in peace, Cowboy.

This article makes me wish I'd stopped and said "hey, Cowboy!". I don't know why I didn't.

Sounds like a great guy. I heard he only got $40 a month in royalties from Deliverance. He deserved much more. You get what you negotiate up front.
