As I've said elsewhere, it reminds me of the old Mutual Broadcasting System, where four big stations (WOR, WGN, WXYZ, and WLW) combined their resources and built a national network. All of the programming was locally generated, rather than from a single national hub like NBC. It's very efficient, and fully utilizes those local resources the company owns. Recently, Imus and Stern were both done this way.
What this does is give even more power to those stations that have the unique and popular content that other stations want. I think it's potentially very exciting for certain well-paid quality talent who have been ready for syndication. I think it's going to be the end for a lot of on-air folks who do nothing unique.
