I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to be coming to Providence to do nights at PRO. I did nights at KC101 for a long time and by the time I moved to mid-days, I thought I was completely done with the show and would not miss it...I was wrong.

Anyway, I usually don't usually post on these boards, but the radio-geek in me couldn't resist. There's just ONE problem. I'm a HUGE Yankee fan and I know I'm moving to Red Sox territory (be gentle). is there ANY Yankee coverage in RI(tv or radio)? or will I be paying Cox extra $$$ to get games?

thanks guys!

KC

ps - no I'm not changing my name to Tom Brady ;)

You mean you're not gonna be the Raiders quarterback anymore?

Just kidding - good luck!

Welcome to Providence.I've never heard you but have heard good things.Just posting this wins you points. You'll find people here honest about opinios but outside of the disgruntled talk show/station afficianados you probably won't be faced with insiders with issues.

Good luck at WPRO-FM; I have listened to you in New Haven, and have always been impressed by your talent.

In terms of Yankees coverage, you can hear them on your sister station 99.7 FM/WSKO-FM, but the best way to see them on TV will probably be the MLB package. There are no local TV affiliates in the Providence cable market.

Best of luck!

Kerry -

You'll be happy to know that WSKO-FM's (the Yankees Radio Network affiliate) studio is next door to ProFM... and its on the way to the break room and restroom. You'll be able to catch the score and still have time to run in and hit the post. ;) Welcome to Providence... we'll try not to bust you on the Yanks too too much. :)

well, you picked a helluva time to start your new gig with THAT name! Next Friday is going to be a nightmare on the air for you!

and then you admit to being a Yankee fan too?

geez, man, you need to talk to your press agent before you post here........

LOL

Kerry:

Another of your sister stations, WPRO-630, will lose the Red Sox after the current season.

Maybe WPRO-AM might join or succeed WSKO-99.7 as the Yankees' radio affiliate in Providence. WPRO-AM's signal extends further north into Massachusetts (including Boston and it's southern suburbs) than does WSKO-FM. I would think that with the Sox leaving WPRO-AM, the Yankees would be more interested in 630 as Providence affiliate than 99.7 because the 630 signal does go up into the Boston area.

And, I suspect that in most of the Providence area (perhaps with a better AM radio north of the city towards Woonsocket, Attleboro, or Boston), Yankees' radio flaghsip WCBS-880 out of New York should have a great signal both daytime and nighttime.

In fact, with my better AM radios, I can get good reception of WCBS-AM (and Mets' radio flagship WFAN-660) during daytime hours where I am (Norwood, Massachusetts). WFAN has the slightly stronger daytime signal in Norwood.
