Here & Now Host Leaving

The host if daily talk show Here & Now, Jeremy Hobson, is leaving the show effective this Friday.

https://current.org/2020/10/here-now-co-host-is-stepping-down/

The show is produced by WBUR Boston & distributed by NPR.

I expected this news to be about Robin Young, who turns 70 next month, but it looks as if she will be carrying the show forward. I first heard Robin in 1974-75, during my college years, when she hosted a surprisingly eclectic music show on WBZ(AM) from 1-5 a.m. on Sundays. I thought she was talented and funny, and we even exchanged letters, contents of some of which actually got read on the air. I'm not a regular "Here & Now" listener, but I do tune in on occasion and am always amazed and amused to still be hearing that voice on the radio 45 years later.

I wouldn't mind if Jeremy Hobson were headed to Morning Edition to take David Greene's place.

But if that were the case, I doubt he would be hush-hush about it.

I just discovered that show but I don't listen to it. I was in the mountains and turned on the NPR station and found out I had to "Wait! Wait!" for an extra hour.

I'm most familiar with Jeremy Hobson's work on Marketplace, where he was excellent.

Morning Edition needs someone of that caliber to take David Greene's seat. Noel King, who was quietly added as a co-host, is very weak, and is only passable due to the strength of her co-anchors.

It would not be his first time at NPR headquarters. He was an intern there for All Things Considered many years ago.
