Miami/Fort Lauderdale Here we go again...

Thanksgiving has come and gone and yet....there's no christmas station in Miami.

Oh I know. The cume isn't there. It's not a heavy christmas area. I really don't care....some of us like it and do listen when it's there.

Could we just stream? Guess so...gonna have to since Sunny 107.9 has been destroyed by the wonderful translator for 1170. But seriously.....we have like 3 or 4 rap stations, 3 or 4 soft rock stations....couldn't we have just 1 christmas station? Even if it was an HD subchannel?

Geez 😪

There are four [possibly more that I could pick up] in my area in Ohio. And they all play the same damn playlists no matter who owns the station with the same damn songs and maybe a few of the SAME songs done by different artists, so you can hear Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer 25 different ways......well except for the religious one, they play Holy Christmas tunes also.

88.1 Way FM in WPB area is likely playing Christmas Music in South Florida as Well ... 🎄

Btw, on a side note, how does that station have an FM Translator - 96.7 W244BD in Stuart FL - That is Licensed at 800 watts ... When the Maximum RF for FM Translators is 250w ? ... Well, their directional coverage pattern doesn't look like its putting out anything near 800w though.

What happened to the Shake 107.9 fm?
101.5 its playing Christmas music
kiss country 99.9 and the bull 104.7 fm also play some songs once in a while

It appears to be a typo. Note that TPO is 89 W. Either that or there is a hell of a lot of gain in the antenna.

North Pole Radio on the iHeart app is about as good as it gets down here and it's commercial free to boot. I too am surprised no one went all Christmas.

I'm pretty sure shake 108 is gone. 1170 has been simulcasting on it for the last six months or so.

Yeah, they all play small christmas songs here and there, but i'm talking about a 247 christmas station

I forgot all about Shake 108. If memory serves, they lost their transmitter site (rent issues, I think) and were later dinged by the FCC for running the station from an unauthorized location. They moved later moved to 94.7 FM (not sure if that was legal), but are currently online only.

They don't like us 😅
The general feeling is that the market would not respond with “big numbers” to all-Christmas music.

The market is about 55% Hispanic and has a huge Caribbean Black population, too. None have a background that includes any. O king around the Christmas tree or anything dealing with jingling bells, sleighs and the like. And the African American segment does not respond well to a “white” Christmas music blend.

Well they can think that but times change. They're going off data now 20...30 years old?

And there were a lot of r&b christmas hits....drifters comes to mind.

Anyway I found a station....thank you 590 WAFC for bringing us some christmas hits and for being a crystal clear AM that hits most of soflo. I'll take it

The guy that owns 'AFC is a crack engineer. I would expect nothing less for the big 59...
