Here We Go...

My biggest problem with some of the older djs (Kent, Ick) is that they are doing basically the same show they've always done. Nothing new, their shows sound like they did 5 or even 10 years ago. Ick's show sounds like last week's USA Today. At least Kent is a little more current. But unless some of the personalities change, Ick's show will be the same 5 years from now. His sidekick is funny, but unlikely that he's good enough to be "the" guy someday.

Same thing for the Mountain guys. Nothing new.

I think Bob Rivers is someone who's always working to update his show and keep it interesting. I like that gang.

I don't have the history with these shows, but here are my observations. Jackie and Bender sound like radio in Fresno or Spokane. Lots of bad interviews with people no one cares about, plus two day old Entertainment Tonight. Marcus D, knows music, what is going on in clubs. He talks to the audience in their own terms. Bob Rivers belongs on AM. He talks politics and plays remakes of songs no one cares about anymore except old men. Kent and Alan play a bit more music and actually seem to know about the artists, but they rely on old bits and features that may be popular with their core, but
boring to new people. Same applies to Icky who even sounds old and disconnected to the listeners. Fitz is all country, knows the music and talks the culture of Country. The old shows have history, great shows reinvent themselves or head off to Oldies or AM where their fans can relive the past. MOVIN and JACK don't try to be anything but music stations which is refreshing. I hope they never add jocks. New talent is out there, but the old guys need to step aside to give them a chance. Talent in this market include FITZ, Marcus D, KBKS's Morning Producer sounds great solo (better than Jackie and Bender) DJ No-Name has talent and so does Cruise. They just need the chance. FITZ is proving what can happen, when young talent get to shine. So will Marcus D when he takes over mornings.

Sounds like you're describing Fitz in the Morning! Better turn off your air monitor before writing morning show critiques!

Pretty sad when your producer and traffic girl can create better content without the hosts in the studio... 'TakeItFromMe', why don't you tell your buddy Marcus D that his new air talent is already in the studio, but on the wrong mics? ;)

I agree that FITZ has finally brought some entertainment to the Country listeners of Seattle... though I wonder if he can keep it up?

Notice that 'TakeItFromMe' and 'IveGotAFaceForRadio' (in his very first post to this board) both capitalize the name 'FITZ?'

TakeItFromMe=I'veGotAFaceForRadio=FITZ. Duh.

Dude, are you seriously so insecure about yourself that you have to constantly keep posting here, trying to keep the conversation pointed toward you? Just focus on your SHOW. That's how you get respect in radio. If and when you can establish a successful show over several years, people will post here about you plenty without you constantly creating new screen names to try and force your name into the conversation.

And by the way, what's with the over-the-top ass kissing of Marcus D? It's just kinda weird.

reverbonthemic: Dude I think you nailed it on the head... I'm with ya, takeitfromme is Fitz... I've listened to his show, he mentioned this message board on air a few months back, had listeners defend his ass on this thing... also on air he has mentioned he's friends with Marcus D over at KISS.

All his posts= nothing but good stuff about FITZ...

FITZ, your on vacation this week, visiting message boards and posing as someone else is what you do on your vacations?

Well I don't know if TakeItFromMe or StupidMadeUpName or IMNotFitzDontLookAtMe or whoever is Fitz. And I don't like country music so don't listen much to his show but my wife is a country fan so I pick up bits and pieces throughout the day. But I do think that Fitz has added a refreshing dose of energy to Seattle radio. He seems to be around the station all day long from what I hear on air. He seems willing to do whatever it takes to make The Wolf a success. Single-handedly. And he's pretty good. What he really needs is a top-notch producer who can get decent interviews and who will come up with some more unique bits/features. The personality is there but the show doesn't add up to much. "Why today doesn't suck?" "Horoscopes?" Come on, kids. If it's a fresh, younger sound you want don't take a page out of Kent and Allen's book of stupid, tired radio!

And I miss R&M.

But wait! There's more!! I hear from Airwaver, (former Dialtwisty), that Pat Cashman and Robin will be the new morning team on KBCS, with "Motoring Maynard" doing traffic. And the station will be increasing power up to a trillion watts, with no commercials!! But don't answer yet, cause there's more!! Gary Lockwood returns to the air on 92.5 as the first PM drive jock from the Middle East, Sheik Yerbootie! That's right folks, big changes are afoot in Seattle radio!

Everyone save this post because Heknowsnothing!!
::)
