Here's :45min worth of WKIE "Nine FM" from 9-3-05 when the dance thing was going on.

The signal has mild static (Not very noticable) because there was DX going on and WYVN Holland, MI was walking all over it. I did my best to keep it in as clear as possible but I had to settle with the antenna positioned badly for WKIE. Its not as crisp as it normally would be if WYVN wasn't messing it up but its decent and clean enough.

<font color=3333ff>Didn't even know they did it..... reminded me of 103.1! Congratulations to JD for being the lucky one to "energize" the airwaves on 2 out of three frequencies again. Bet it had to feel good.

Ugh... why did you have to post that? Heheheh... I wish I had more time to prepare. I got called in at the very last minute and there were a few technical hurdles (who would have thought that Bruce Springsteen "Dancing In The Dark" was a dance track? LOL), but hey, it was all for a good cause.

Seriously, let's not forget why this was done.
1. To raise awareness that help and donations are still needed for Hurricane Katrina victims. Donate to the Red Cross by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW or by going to their website.
2. The hours were sponsored by this website via Doug Fleming's family. Doug was a big fan of CHR and especially dance radio.

Special thanks to NINE-FM and Radio-Info.com for a fun night.

You did fine. It was a blast listening to that recording! I wish I was able to hear it live. I know if I would of tuned in, I would of freaked out, that there was dance music being played on 92.7! Where are the 9 studios? I know that all their AM stations are together in Chi. I just don't remember any room in there for a whole nother station.

Speaking of the brief return of dance to 92.7, I was able to get into Nine's broadcast range last night, and listened in for a while. Is Sean Caldwell doing imaging for the station again, or is it just someone who sounds a lot like him?

The NINE-FM studios are located in the South Side, on Pulaski Road near 60th Street. This building was previously owned by Entravision, when it housed the studios for 99.9/103.9 Super Estrella. Prior to that, it was owned by Z-Spanish. The neighborhood is predominately Mexican ethnicity.

The building also currently houses the broadcast centers for WCPT and WKIF, although WKIF is quite literally an automated box in the NINE-FM main studio. WKIF 92.7FM (Kankakee) is running CNN's Headline News (though some people in the building that weekend have suggested that WKIF might work better as a hip-hop format).

I wish I had a digital camera that night. Oh well.
