here's a conversation starter

So here's a conversation starter for those who think the boarde is too quiet. I've been looking at formatchange.com quite a bit lately and there are several airchecks missing. Could someone send these to me if they have them? They are listed in reverse-chronological order.
KWJZ becomes click 98.9
95.7 finishes stunting with Christmas music
95.7 begins the Christmas music stunt
Am 570 KVI flips from talk to oldies
97.7 KFMY becomes KOMO-FM
KBSG becomes KIRO-FM
96.5 K-rock becomes Jack fm
KLSY rebrands as mix 92.5
Last but not least, 96.5 becomes the point

How do I use that site? It just says there ws a problem downloading the file over and over again. Honestly that site's the worst file sharing site I've seen.

Well, KWJZ flipped pretty suddenly. At 3:00 pm on 12/27/10. And nobody outside of a nondescript Factoria yuppie office building and it's corporate HQ saw it coming. Couldn't happen in Seattle (one of the most dedicated outposts of Smooth Jazz music.)

But it did.

From the general reports of listeners who were tuned in, they segued straight out of a smooth jazz instrumental into a station ID, then into "Animal" Neon Trees.

No warning. no explanation. It just happened.

KJR-FM went Christmas in much the same way.

Honestly, I never seem to hear about format changes, I just tune in and oh there's a new station there. My friend said that they emailed all the members of there loyal listener club the Friday before the flip.

Those big production pieces when a station changes format amounts to nothing more than playing to station management and the types who peruse this board. To many listeners, the station stopped playing the music. Many of said listeners will think it's a commercial and tune to another station to hear music.

98.9 did it right, they caught the market off-guard and just did their thing.

So did someone just happen to be recording when KFNK became Gen X 104.9? Seems as if that change was the same as the other two. A back-announce of the last song, then welcome to the new GenX 104.9, honestly a very boring change.
