Here's The Latest on 106.3 FM In Maplesville

I now have two other predictions I want to make for this new radio station:

1. This outfit will sell the CP to someone that can make a go of it.
(Hope they do this one) (If they do, I know of someone that might have an interest in getting it)

2. I don't see it happening but the current owners may keep this station and end up staying in Maplesville.
(If they do, they'll have very hard time making it)

I agree. If the station remains on 106.3 FM, which we assume it will, the transmitter site can't move east too far (106.1 Alexander City), nor west (106.5 Demopolis). The frequency can't move closer toward 106.9, nor down toward the cluttered 105s in the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham corridor. Change the city of license to Montevallo (they don't have a commercial station yet, do they?) and move the transmitter site 20 or so miles northward - would at least cover the southern suburbs. If the stations in Louisville, MS (107.1) and Meridian, MS (106.9) could somehow switch frequencies, that would give the green light for the Demopolis station to move up to 106.7 FM (albeit at maybe a 25 kw limit) and the 106.3 station could boost power to maybe 50 kw. All theoretical of course. And I'm sure I've infringed on someone's territory. But with all the frequency swaps in north Alabama in the past 10 years or so - anything is possible!

This station's coverage area will be mostly farmland and the beautiful country surroundings, that one can see while traveling up and down Highway 22.

I've been to Maplesville many times, nice place to go to but a radio station just won't make it there.  Too few people and businesses to help support this.

And yes Montevallo doesn't even have it's own radio station.

P.S. I don't see this radio station making it, if they stay in Maplesville.  They will have to depend on translator repeaters in Clanton and Selma, just to survive.
