Heres the question come june 12th what changes will citadel make?

Will they do much changing to kabc?I hope so back in 2000 when i first came to la even though i am a democrat i enjoyed kabc decent station but fast forward seven years what happened?I liked gloria alred and mark taylor and there talk show but it has become a very bland station and playing sports on sundays in the fall with footballs games? You are a talk station not espn!!!

Whatya think guys and gals?

KABC needs a complete change. Its a disaster: I'd basically clean house starting with the morning show with no numbers. The station that invented talk radio is basically a second-tier operation.

I wonder just how far they'd go with the "flagship" station in LA. More importantly, I wonder how they'll handle things at KGO in San Francisco ... way successful for ABC and 26 years number one.

But very expensive. Very very expensive.

Maybe they'll break the bank and send some of that staff to LA to thin things out...like, moving PD Jack Swanson to KABC as well as some talent.

They won't move Ronn Owens, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them move, say, Gene Burns, Bernie Ward or (please) Ray Talifiero.

Pete Wilson does TV there as anchor, so, I don't see a move there.

Maybe they'll move Dr. Dean Edell to LA. I think Bob Brinker's already on KABC.

Maybe they'll put Karel on KABC. He lives in Long Beach and did well at KFI. He stirs it up pretty well on weekends at KGO.

I don't see Melanie Morgan of KSFO moving to LA ... to conservative.

But I do some potential changes at both stations...

Move? Move?!? Remember, this is Citadel we're talking about.

Why not simply feed KGO onto KABC's signal? Jack programs from SF but 90% of the SF programming is also carried in LA. The savings will come from all of the LA talent they would be getting rid of. Network radio at its finest. (Pardon my sarcasm. Not necessarily a prediction. Then again ....)

If they're smart, nothing drastic at first. Like most new owners, you'll see them tweaking things to their liking. You'll just have to keep an eye out and see. I don't predict sweeping changes right off the bat.

All that jive about bringing KGO talent to KABC, are you kidding? Totally different market and competitive dynamics, KGO is nearly 100 percent local, and few of their talent would work well in L.A. KGO is perfect for the Bay Area, although its demos are aging. KABC is the Boston Celtics of radio, a great past but a shadow of itself.

There is a point. What about a 100% local talk station? In America's second largest market, there must be room for a LOCAL talk station. Local talent, local issues with national issues with a local focus. It might sound small market, but it could work. If nothing else it would be different from the normal syndication filler programming.

I hear Joe Crummey might be available, since he recently got axed. Now, everyone knows where he works from ... even in Phoenix! Then there's Karel. That's two locals that could use the work, even if the both worked for KFI at one time. Who else?

Hey, give ME a talk show. I'm sure I can make a few groups of people angry.

One week to go and they are pretty nervous over at KABC/KLOS. A number of people still have not learned their fate post merger which about says it all. Change would be good for these stations that have been lagging for such a long time but not under this new owner. With how cheap Citadel is, I'm sure they'll just bring in less qualified people and the stations will be even worse off.

Is that their SOP in other areas? That's too bad...but the KABC schedule stinks and the ratings have been showing it. How long does Al Rantel put up with two separate shifts? Two hours of O'Reilly is two hours too much. Same for Mark Levin.

As for KLOS how long can that dinosaur stagnate at the same ratings for years without any signs of improvement? And I still don't "get" Mark & Brian.

Good Morning, Glenn. Never Been Banned Here, huh? Why the SN change?

Well, June 12th has come and gone....no changes yet. KABC has an up book, so dosn't expect to much right now. If they were to move, I would think they would start with moving Peter Tilden to mornings where he belongs, with a strong second voice in the mornings. Move Al Rantel to 9-11:45 (drop O'reilly or move him to overnights)..emphasize live and local. Hannity and Elder stay put.

Since Joe Crummey is available, put him 6-10 (or 7-10, with Elder getting a live local-only hour from 6-7). The afore mentioned Mr. Hendrie can go live from 10-1pm. 1-5am, Mark Levin and O'Reilly.

And though the keys belong to Citidel, it is still an ABC station to many people. Make a strong co-op with ABC7 ("From the ABC7 Eyweitness NewsRoom, 790KABC News....").

Oh, and promotionally be in KFI's face at every turn. Live events and street team everywhere. plusg on the top ABC shows, as well as 'LOS and 'SPN. Buy every billboard in town. Just let them know that KABC is back in business.

(oh, and fix that audio chain.....tha station sounds flat!)

One last thing.....

Just forget Citidel/ABC bringing ANYONE from KGO over. Especially Bernie Ward. His love of LA is only matched by Keith Olbermann's for Billo.

Exactly.

KABC finished the Fall book at 2.5 with P12+, then fell to a 1.8 in the Winter quarter...and just went from a 1.8 in Phase One to a 1.9 in Phase Two of the Spring report. Hardly an "up" book.
