Here's Where My Curiousity Comes In

1. What does 104.1 do tonight at midnight? (a) switch over to Mix (b) simulcast another CBS station, like BZ-AM till 6:00 in the morning (c) sign off till 6:00 in the morning (d) stunt (e) other

2. What does 98.5 do tonight at midnight? (a) simulcast another CBS station till Thursday morning (b) stunt (c) sign off and do transmitter updates till Thursday (d) have Mix on both 98.5 and 104.1 till Thursday (e) other

What kind of transmitter updates to they need to do?

Being the primary FM EAS station for the area, I don't think they sign off unless they absolutely have to for technical reasons.

1. a
2. e (i expect to hear "Mix 1041" after midnight)

Really thought CBS would go CHR on 104 though. Seeing pictures of the "Mix 104" van makes me think that won't happen after all.

I just contacted Mix. The person answering the general information line said that Mix will probably start somewhere between midnight and 2. BCN is signing off at midnight. Then, there will most likely be a little bit of transmitter tweaking with Mix coming in after that.

I doubt that there will be any stunting, as listeners should know by now that 98.5 will become an all-sports station. There could be some kind of countdown clock or something, or maybe they will replay some classic Patriots games. Who knows. I wouldn't rule out a Mix 98.5/104 simulcast either, might be a good way to round up listeners who haven't switched over to 104.1 yet.

as of now, a few past midnight...going by the webstream, WBCN 104.1 is off (after a quick WBMX/HD Legal ID) and 98.5 is still the usual Mix
