Herman Cain. Seriously?

Am I the only one who thinks this guy sounds like a listener who won a contest to sit in for Boortz for an hour? This guy makes the Stews sound professional. Discuss...

I find him more listenable than Sean "Great American" Hannity. Heck, out of all the non-consumer/finance/business talkers, I'd say he's the most listenable. However, I'd take Clark Howard, Ray Luccia, Dave Ramsey, John Adams, Gene Henssler etc over him anyday.

Yes, he does get annoying at times, yes he has energy and enthusiasm, but at least he doesn't berate his callers.

I listened to him a time or two and, God forgive me, I thought I was listening to a sermon.

I think he's one of the best talkers out there. The guy is right up there with the best of them as far as keeping a conversation interesting and his interactions with callers is amazing.
You do have to be able to ignore the accent and not let yourself stereotype him because of it.

Yes, I guess knowledge and insight should take a back seat to a great voice. After all, we tune in to hear the talkers' musical voice, no matter what they are saying. Herman is a great talk host. I listen whenever I can.

Herman Cain is an intelligent, knowledgeable, and competent talk show host. But I just can't listen to him. I'm sorry, but I just can't get past the ebonics. When he "Jus wants to ax me a qurstun", or hes subbing for "Unkka Neal" I can't take him seriously. There, I said it. I'm sorry, but it's just not professional in a top 10 market.

Yeah, I can't decide if his manner of speaking is real or theatrical, but like you said, it's not professional on a news/talk station in a major market.

It's all schtick. I'm sure that HC could easily speak the Queen's English if he wanted to. And I am sure that WSB could get him to if they wanted to. Although it would make him sound more like Royal Marshall and less like Ralph From Ben Hill, which is a good thing...and a bad thing. Sometimes Royal sounds like someone dropped a 'Lude in his coffee.

He may be the smartest guy on earth, but he doesn't project energy or have a gift for gab. Then again, Boortz can't talk either. I just don't understand why Royal Marshall isn't getting the nod to fill in and being groomed as successor. I think he's great.

The above says more about you than the radio show you're referring to.

While he does have a good resume, and makes points I tend to agree with, I to find him difficult to listen to. It has been mentioned that it is an act. If so, I would love to hear him without the act!!

I'm more interested in content than a voice. I find his shows interesting, but if another talker at the time (Dennis Prager) is not talking economics I'm usually listening to him. Cain seems to only focus on taxes and politics, which (duh) is what most talkers focus on, but I'd like more variety.

He needs to figure a way to open his show differently from one night to the next. He uses the same lines every night. The last time I was listening as he was about to come on, I switched to 106.7 for a minute.

I agree completely. I really liked his evening show on WSB.
