He's Ba-ack! Craig Kilborn To Host Fox Talk Show

I'm one of those rare people that thought "The Daily Show" was MUCH funnier with Kilborn....I'm a Democrat and I don't find Jon Stewart the least bit funny

So, apparently, FOX 29 in Philadelphia is killing whatever was left of "prime access" comedy block during the 7PM hour to show this schlock. I wonder if syndicated reruns of "The Simpsons" is even a viable option anymore considering that 20+ years worth of material is still airing somewhere, somewhen...

Oh well, remind me to try to watch something else during this hour...

Not a block, but comedy remains at 7:30 with Seinfeld. Bummer to see Simpsons not on in daily runs in Philly, but I have my DVDs anyway.

I wonder why Fox hasn't put "Simpsons" reruns on WWOR/9, the sister station to Fox 5 in New York...

On some of the other Fox-owned MyTV stations. I know WFTC in the Twin Cities has Simpsons reruns, but that goes back to when it was a Fox affiliate. I guess it's either a contractual thing, or Fox keeping the show on its higher-rated O&Os as opposed to their lesser-rated sister stations.

Our local Fox station won't be carrying it and I'm too far from LA to pick up KTTV with my OTA antenna.

Here's the complete list of stations carrying the new "Kilborn File" program starting tonight:
http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/454250-Kilborn_Many_Happy_Returns.php

The show will run in some of the country’s biggest markets, including No. 1 market New York on WNYW at 7 p.m. The show also will air on KTTV Los Angeles (market No. 2) at 6:30 p.m., WTXF Philadelphia (market No. 4) at 7 p.m., WFXT Boston (market No. 7) at 7 p.m., WJBK Detroit (market No. 11) at 7:30 p.m., KSAZ Phoenix (market No. 12) at 10:30 p.m. and KTBC Austin (market No. 48) at 10 p.m.

A rough start for Kilborn's new show: Not only is the show's rating less than the program that aired in the timeslot for all seven stations last year, but also on all seven affiliates, the show lost anywhere from 55-75% of the lead-in from the show that aired before "Kilborn Files."

Incidentally, the market that experienced the biggest of the lead-in drops (73%) as well as the largest ratings decline in the timeslot compared to a year ago, is also the market where the show had its best rating: Austin, TX (1.3).

I tried to give the show a chance, but after 10 minutes into the show I changed the channel. Didn't laugh once. I want my Simpsons BACK! Couldn't they just replace Malcolm in the Middle (Fox 11 LA airs that at 7 PM)?

I'm suprised they decided not to air it on WFLD/Chicago, KDFW/Dallas and KRIV/Houston, also Fox O&Os.

I'm surprised it's also MIA at WOFL/WOGX (Fox O&O in Orlando/Ocala/Gainesville). I too enjoyed Kilborn more than Stewart at the Daily Show. Yes, it was MUCH less political with Kilborn. The show took itself less seriously back then-- and the overarching point of the show was to mock general 11pm newsbroadcasts (that's why you saw a lot more "investigative journalism" featuring weird subjects). Nowadays it's still a mock news program, but its more about a mocking politicians with liberal undertones. "Headlines" is almost entirely political stories. The shift definitely occured during election season. DS w/ Stewart is a completely different show from DS w/ Kilborn but it opens the hole for a less political parody news program. With a little bit of time, I think Kilborn's show could fill that gap. I just hope he's given enough time!

Keep in mind that this is a test run, so the starting affiliate count might be low, at first. I believe Wendy Williams' show began with only four stations and after a successful trial, expanded to more stations. Should Kilborn's show have a similar result, you may just get your "Files" fix in Chicago or Orlando or wherever...

I read that day two ratings for Kilborn were worse than the premiere's low numbers. GM's of these stations won't have much patience, and my guess is that Friday will be his final show if they don't see any jump tonight or Thursday (test runs sometimes end abrupt...see last year's Beyond Twisted as an example).

I actually liked Beyond Twisted, it was actually quite entertaining. I did know it wasn't going to last though.

So... how was day 3 of The Kilborn Files? I admit, I did get a little laugh at yesterday's episode, though still wasn't as funny.
