Hey 1380 engineering staff!

...And that's your Sacramento radio news update for today. Tune in tomorrow when high weeds are reported around KSTE's transmitter building.

Speaking of KTKZ engineering, I've noticed at certain times their signal changes. It typically occurs early mornings and late evenings at :15 or :45 after the hour. Lately it takes place at 6:45AM and 8:15PM.

I have this one AM radio I need to rotate 90 degrees to get good reception again when this happens.

They operate from a completely different trasmitter site at night that is several miles away from their daytime location. KCTC and KEBR both have two site operations in the market.

Speaking of tower lights going out, this is a message for Entercom and American Towers...you guys need to check out your tower near Auburn near Manzanita. About two months ago, as I was driving down Auburn one evening, I noticed this very bright flashing white light, which appeared to be coming from the direction of that tower. Sure enough, it turned out it was the strobe on it. I can see the tower from my front yard, and the strobe never operates at night, so I figured it had to be some sort of malfunction. A few days later, I noticed that the lights on the tower were completely out, and still are.

See, I'm trying to make this board useful for something :p

LOL! More exciting Sacramento radio news! ;D

Speaking of AM stations and moving the radio, I worked at an AM station in Alaska. Every time the sun shined, I had to move the AM antenna in my office 90 degrees. Hey, it was S.E. Alaska, in the Tongass National Forest, a rain forest. Rumor had it the tower's ground plane was trashed during a construction project.
