Hey CBS If You Really Intend To Blow-Up WYSP

Swap 610 WIP on HD3 and WYSP on HD1 and Promote the switch like you promote KYW on 94.1 HD2 and Phillies 24/7 on WOGL HD4. (Yes I did avoid stating WYSP 94.1 in case that changes to WIP 94.1). But wait! After a few weeks I would put WYSP on 610 and use it as a barker station to get people to purchase an HD radio.

The only problem is how many people would actually buy an HD radio to listen to a forth place rock station? Not many I bet.

Probably no one, much as that's been about as many as have bought an HD radio for anything else. :) Simply simulcasting the sports format would be more cost effective.

Somebody would buy an HD radio to listen to rock WYSP on 610. I have a handful of anecdotal stories of listeners to Skin Radio who told me they bought an HD radio to listen to WHAT while we were broadcasting that. Granted that was '07 and there was a bigger push all around for HD from manufacturers and the radio industry and Ibiquity, plus you could find them in stores.

But the market selling radios doesn't put money in CBS' pockets, and it wouldn't be many anyway. Simulcast makes more sense, with the ability to not simulcast on certain occasions like 'PEN does with college football games on AM with talk still going on FM. They also prob won't kill off the rock, just move it to a side channel/stream.

Does CBS still run that "HearPhilly" channel? Maybe they can throw that on 610 after WIP goes to FM full-time.

How about another AM oldies station, Oldies 610 just like oldies 1210 complimented oldies 98.1 years ago with sports play by play overflow from WIP-FM at night?

Didn't work all that well the first time out. :). Not a ringing endorsement for doing it again.

A second talk station then? Make 1210 all live and local and 610 syndicated talk? Move Rush there and get Beck and Hannity back. Clear Levin live 6-9pm. Or Fox Sports on 610 since WPEN has ESPN. Better idea, Sports Rock on 610. It was great the 1st time.
