I think 1220 was just sold. Who owns 1450 and what are they doing with it? Is 1370 back on the air? Can it be heard in Providence? 990 has been in and out of bankruptcy. Is it in or out at the moment? Last I heard, it was owned by a company that programs SS, but I think that was before the most recent bankruptcy. Is the owner maybe Davidson? They aren't interested in progressive talk, I'm sure.
The problem is that running progressive talk requires an owner with other sources of income because it takes effort to sell the format and time to reach positive cash flow. Without other income to fall back on, an owner who has to cover expenses out of revenues can't wait very long for positive cash flow.
The best hope, then, is for a station with low expenses and an owner with deep pockets.
I take it WLIB doesn't come in well enough to listen to during the day in Providence. The night signal may be OK there--when WOWO remembers to switch to night pattern at night.
