Hey FreeFM, you're a talk station

What's with these "free to rock" tracks covering local breaks in Leykis and other shows? They run a promo for their St. Patrick's Day event and then some song... can't they sell an ad over there? It seems like I'm hearing this every break.

The ability of a talk format to run more hourly spots vs. a music format is part of the reason the FreeFMs of the world can survive. Filling 11 minutes of inventory in PMD with music that costs money to run isn't a great way to make money.

Having the late night talk show is a good idea, but they seem to still be married to the alt/rock format by keeping it around overnights and weekends. Enough already! Is there a good reason they can't sever all ties with the tunes altogether? It's confusing.

I totally agree with you and they could really just take programs from the L.A. Free FM in the meantime while some local programs are produced for the AZ Free FM. I do think if they are targeting the station as a talk station then the rock has to go or at least only have "speciality" rock shows. On the weekend I would love to hear best ofs and other speciality programming as Free FM in L.A. does.

Agreed. Free FM LA has some really interesting shows late at night that would be perfect for this station. It's only a few hrs from la anyway.
