Hey, Hollis Thomas, You've Got Mail!

There is a commercial currently airing on WIP with former Eagles player Hollis Thomas hawking a car dealership. However, if you listen closely during the first five seconds of the spot, you can hear an Outlook new mail alert. Has anyone else heard this?

Can't say I spend much time on WIP anymore (I've been a WPEN convert for years), but still tune in there occasionally for Jody Mac and Rob Ellis. Havent heard that Hollis Thomas commerical, but will have to listen out for it.

The WIP ads voiced by their hosts are the worst. Would I really choose NovaCare becuase Rhea says her husband used them? Why would I care about that? Why would anyone care?

And those ads from Morganti for some Ritz peanut butter crack-a-fulls, where he can't pronounce the r in the word. Good going. Think I'll buy those. :D

I roll my eyes whenever I hear Angelo Cataldi doing ads for that forklift dealer like he knows a damn thing about them.

I also find myself listening more to 97.5 especially on the drive home. I still don't understand why 97.5 let Jody Mac go. I agree that he is not a guy you want to build the station around but he could have played the role Macnow played with IP for about 10 years where he was the weekend and fill in guy. I really enjoy Ellis and still think R. Diddy on the weekends is the best.

There are a couple spots on the sports stations that make me cringe.

Michael Vick doing a hotel ad I think. Sounds like someone recorded it on an old tape recorder in the noisiest room they could find, then had Michael read off a napkin that was damp with the ink running. First take too...

So bad it's not even funny. Just cringe-worthy to someone who was taught to make a spot sound as good as humanly/technically possible.

I actually turn from the station when this ad comes on. Can not believe they run it. And never re-did it. And the advertiser is at all happy with it. Mind-boggling.

And apparently according to Angelo, buying razors has suddenly become some sort of major problem for him, so he wants listeners to join some mail-order "razor club" that he "joined". ::) And whats with Eskin sounding so amped up as he hurriedly reads the copy for buying liquor? Is that suppose to be the sound of him being enthusiastic?

These ads are just downright embarrassing.

That football play-by-play ad for a local tile company still gets me every time. "After further review, Billy is an idiot!" :D

Yeah that one's pretty funny. It's produced by an actual ad firm so that explains why it's good.
