Hey, Joe!

We definitely would have to include Pete!

Pete Falconi was responsible for the MAINE CATALOG SWEEPSTAKES promotion during 1981 and 1982.

For those not familiar with the promotion, catalogs were mailed to WGAN listeners in the Greater Portland, Southern Maine and Lewiston/Auburn areas. Each catalog had different printed numbers that corresponded to a particular prize. The only thing listeners had to do...once they heard one of their prize number on 56/WGAN...was to call in and claim their prize! One year we gave away a HOUSE(!)along with several other prizes.

I still have the promos with Joe McMillan and Cousin Bob Walker---plus the prize packages (and teaser promos) voiced by Peter Jamerson.

It's amazing how much fun a radio promotion could be when you've got advertisers and listeners who want to participate...and not get YELLED AT by a hyperactive jock! :p

Not get "yelled at?" (Your interpretation) What do you call "A HOUSE!" It was spoken "loudly" on the radio, and capitalized on buttons and in print. There was hype - and rightfully so. It was, after all, A HOUSE! But it was exclaimed with the vim and vigor that you so righteously eschew. and you even did so yourself.

Also - it wasn't 1981/1982. Let's not push your dear, dear management friends out of the front door at Northport before their time.

GGBS sold WGAN to Taylor in 1984.

and the Catalogue was a direct rip-off from WHDH - who more than likely got it (or the idea) from someone.

Chuck
Your Right it was March of 1984
Thats when I came back to Maine to do
afternoons at WGAN
Bought a house in Windham Maine
I had worked with Pete just before
at WVBF/WKOX
I had hoped to stay in Maine
but Good ole "TURNER PORTER"
Who I had walked out on in August
of 1980 While "HEY JUDE" was playing
FIRED us all from WGT in Oct of 1988

you're reading it wrong, argy. not hostile - just calling 'em as i see 'em, that's all. if it were hostile, there would have been more useage of capitalized letters. (note the lack thereof here)

The Winner's Choice Prize Catalogue was a great promotion. Whatever happened to that house on Mousam Ridge in Kennebunk?

I'll have to get back to you on that one, Chuck...

i should open a store.

I got a mirror @ my parents house that has G- 98 and Z-rock 1440 bumper stickers and a 107.5 WBLM sticker! I think I have a FM 103 kite. I still have bricks of WPOR, Thunder 107 and G- 98 Stickers

I've got some relics...some old WBLM 107.5 and WBLM 108 bumper stickers as well as a bunch of
FM 101-Portland's Best Rock, and Z-101-Portland's Best Rock stickers....
