The 3WS Morning show with Jonny Hartwell is pathetic. Twice this week, I have attempted to call in and win with the answer to a meaningless game. The studio phone just rings and rings and alas, no answer. In the meantime, Jonny keeps saying he is looking for a winner, and even though I have had the correct answer, he doesn't bother to answer the frickin' phone. My office phone times out after 5 minutes, and I called three different times, but never an answer. Why bother having a phone call-in contest if you can't answer the damn phone. He can't be that busy in the studio; he often just replays skits or comments over and over, so what in the world is he doing? Apparantly not answering the phone!!

Who can blame him? Have you ever talked to some of the people who call (adult) stations?!! Ugg!..."a week or so ago Sherry was talking about a place in the north hills...what was that?...oh, you don't know?...ummmm....is sherry there?...no...I know she was done 6 hours ago...but, she's not there now?...ummmm....it was a place....in the north hills...she said....bout a week ago...does anybody there know?....no?...can you give me the number for KDKA?"...

I'm going to have to agree with db59. It's a privelege anymore to be on a radio station and Jonny and every air personality on every station should take note of that and give the listening audience respect. That starts with the basics of answering the phone!
If Jonny is asking for listeners to call, then he should answer the phone. How hard is his job that he cannot answer the phone?
I stopped listening to 3ws when Jonny started. He is not good at all and has no respect for the audience. He really should be on a small, small market station.

as long as a number for requests or contests is given the personalities should answer the phones.
if the idea is to do the show and not answer phones the number should be kept private.

Here's today's update. I called for another contest (yes, I enjoy getting frustrated) but this time Jonny actually answered the phone. When I asked if he had a winner yet, at 8:05 a.m., he said someone had already won the contest and thanked me for calling. He even gave me the correct answer, which I did not have. Now, it is 8:15 a.m. , and he is still on the air telling people to call in because he is looking for a winner. If he has a winner, why doesn't he just say so and end the contest on-air. This is very deceiving to the listeners, who are thinking they still have a chance to win, even if the prize is just 4 Pirate tickets.

He's jagoff. Unprofessional and is going to drag that station down the to the cellar. When you hire a bottom feeder, that's what you get. Bet CBS is happy not to have him anymore.

Because 80% of the audience isn't calling for the contest, but may be curious of the answer. Building TSL. They don't know that there is no winner yet. Keep them listening to find out the answer.

Actually, he probably got the answer and realized he had enough for two breaks and like the dummy he is, he still solicited for the winning answer after the first break of calls. Then, he answered db's call already knowing he had a winner at the next break.
