Late 60s/early 70s Elvis songs, yes. But KOOL doesn't even play
Return To Sender (1962) anymore, and there's no way you're
going to hear Buddy, Rick and Fats at all, except for Garden Party.
Demo deadly.

I disagree with some of the stuff PD Kris has done (cough, cough,
Christmas music) and all of the corporately-mandated layoffs,
but I'm with him on no more pre-64 stuff. And the mid-60s are
also going to be phased out over time. The only bright spot there
is when 1967 goes away--no more Brown Eyed Girl. ;D

There's always Lumberyard 1440, at least (this month) between
6:45am and 6:30pm LST*. Plenty-o-moldy oldies there.

*: Lamptimer Standard Time (may vary +/- five minutes from atomic).

My PC has an FM/TV card.....no AM. So I can't listen to the Lamptimer....er, Lumberyard while type, type, typing.

And OF, you can't tell me a few moldy-oldies would hurt KOOL's #6 position any more than two months of <cough, cough> Christmas music (which was available on multiple other stations through the Valley and every mall as well).

That's what happens when you have someone in charge that takes orders from the top. Massage parlor Mark and PD Kris have done an excellent job of dismantling a once great radio station, and now CBS is paying for it in poor ratings and billing.

You're telling me real Oldies (pre-64) won't work in rotation but disco and bubblegum will? That's what KOOL is playing now (although not much thankfully). Example: 12:48PM today (Friday) "What's Up Buttercup?" was blasting away. Nothing like driving away the Faithful! Who is the programming genius who thought that one up?

I'm not asking for a steady diet of late-50's RnR but it would be nice, 2-4 times per day, to hear a song from the beginning of modern rock accompanied by some appropriate background from one of the knowledgeable DJ's.

I caught my 20-year old daughter listening to my collection of early RnR the other night and she was delighted at some of the music she had never heard. My guess is that would help build an audience for KOOL's future after us old teenagers climb the charts to rock and roll heaven.
