Hey, Wendy's back...

I heard Wendy Hays on FM100 yesterday. Perhaps she's doing Steve's job?

It was odd. I heard a few breaks, knew the voice was very familiar, and just couldn't place it.

'Hope she's doing well. She's a sweetie -- and I don't like anybody.

It takes two people to do my job

LOL!!!!! J/K

Seriously, I hear a legendary voice will soon be added to FM 100. And, I had heard Wendi was coming onboard. My only regret is not having said hi and bye to her before I left. Yes, she is a sweetie & I wish her well..
______________

Steve!

Hope all went well with the move buddy. Sorry that we didn't get a chance to hook up before you left. Been REALLY busy lately. Oh, and FYI, it's partly cloudy and 82 here today......bet it's a bit colder than that where you are...he he he he

Great to hear Wendi (yes, with an I) back on the air again!

Congrats, Wendi.

OK Steve, you can't post that without giving up some more info. Is this voice currently in-town or returning? Better yet, who is it?

Totally understand. Didn't get to see anyone before going... didn't even get a chance to bitch-slap Jay & Brian haha... I did find some work... manufacturing. Start Monday. It's okay though, gotta work somewhere till I find what I want. Radio jobs don't just pop up in a day or two.

Um... you SUCK! gonna snow and rain tonight, low 35.

Sure I can. I don't think it's been announced, and he's only part time, as far as I know. The only hint I'll give is WHBQ.

Bet you're thoroughly confused now. That could apply to almost anyone haha.
______________

...George Klein? (whoa...goin' old school)
...or Rick Dees? (he's unemployed, y'know...)
...or Karson with a K?

Interesting. Under employment for 107.5, for the longest it posted searching for weekend talent submit to Karson. Now the ad is under a different font and ask for submissions be sent to Programming Dept./[email protected]. Karson is still listed on website and as programmer. Has Karson been on mornings this week?
Dees (not unless his Top 40 show is coming back and could you see Dees and Olsen in the morning?)
Klein (has sweet gig now and FM100 isn't going All Elvis)

Rob Grayson was on FM 100 last night for Garner. Good to hear him back on terrestrial radio!

Legendary voice?
Could it be "Dr. Billy Birmingham," speaking to us from his home in Hernando, Mississippi?

No, Rob would have been my guess, and it's been confirmed below.
______________

I had the web master change the email to [email protected] instead of my email address. Most people outside of radio do not know that I am the PD so I keep that information off of the website. That email just forwards to [email protected]. Yes, I was/am on mornings this week and for at least the next 80 or so weeks. Hopefully a lot longer. I love Memphis!

And the winner is...

That's the one.

The hint was WHBQ. I didn't say AM or FM. Gosh, I feel quite honored that RG got my old job. I'm probably half the jock he is. Maybe, if that.

Speaking of which, (for Rob).. too bad we didn't hook up. email me, I can still post your airchecks, if ya still wanna.
______________

"Legendary"? Nah! "In the right place at the right time and lucky to be there?"
More like it. But thanks for the thought! God bless you in your new adventure!

Thanks DE!

Yeah, Lance & I have been talking for a while..even before Steve's departure. That just kind of sped things up. I'm just hanging out on Sunday's for now..way below the radar, which suits me fine! But I am sure there are a few of you out there that are dying to flame on me again.

And someone out there owes me some hugs!

:)

Re: Thanks DE!

Sorry I misspelled your name. I know better. Minor lapse.

Glad to hear you back on.

Sunday afternoon on 100? I used to do that.

DE

Glad you are staying. I have not listened to much radio this week while doing rehab for a disc in my back.

Wow! How often to you get to make a Dr. Billy Birmingham reference?

For folks who were not listening to either WMPS (1974-1976) or WHBQ (1977-1979), Dr. Billy Birmingham was a Billy Graham-inspired Rick Dees character.

The musical intro to the good doctor was a Johnny Cash soundalike with the following lyrics:

Well my friend Rick Dees runs a mighty fine show,
The music and fun continues to grow,
Can't make it through the day staying happy as I am,
Without some words from Dr. Billy Birmingham ...

Then with the Sunday-Go-To-Meeting pipe organ blaring, Dees would assume the character and deliver sermonettes like this:

Why, just yesterday, I saw a young lady at Maywood, and she was wearing a see-through blouse!

SFX: Crowd gasping!

I went up to her and said "My dear, is that a see-through blouse, or am I seeing things?"

She said "Billy, it IS and you ARE!"

Dees was a master ... Itzhak Perlman with a cart rack.
