HFS: April teasers

The one and only DJ at 94.7 HD2 'HFS' keeps mentioning "good things for HFS coming in April". I suppose it isn't too late to start advertising for an HFStival which is usually held around Memorial Day weekend. Its almost too much to hope for a return to a main FM signal. Any speculation? Inside info?

The popularity of Modern Rock waxes and wanes. Everything old is new again. HFS bailed on the format when Alt went into a long-term recession. The format will be viable again at some point. There's a reason this francise and calls have never been completely abandoned. I'd love to see a return of HFS in the short term, but I think the music is gonna have to simmer a while longer before anything happens.

I see your point but I think its more that suits attention to Modern Rock waxes and wanes and never really even gets a hint of a clue about true alternative or indie music. There is never a lack of interest in new music, unsigned bands or new twists and crossover genre only the willingness of broadcasters to give it a home on commercial radio.

I agree with you in spirit, but the days of mom and pops like the Frankesteins are over. The waxing and waning are real in a commercial sense. Don't expect anyone to launch and true alternative in a major market and settle for a 1 share. When there's enough commercially viable product to support a modern rock station in DC, there will be one. What you're talking about is done for good in a major market, unless it's college radio. Sorry.

Then I guess its good that the Modern/Alternative/Indie crowd is the most innovative and stubborn demographic in society. That link and vid,by the way, is for real. The HFStival promo is running on HFS and other CBS stations. Its Spring in MD/DC and the traditional blowout is ON. CBS knows there is money to be made.

I guess this is what all the fuss is about: DCRTV is reporting that due to a technical glitch, their HD2 signal is off the air! I hear all nine listeners are flummoxed.

Count me as one in that crowd. I'd love to see someone grow some balls and give the format a shot right now and beat everyone to the punch, but we know the likelihood of that is near zero.

Nothing to do with the glitch. The glitch is either a coincidence or HFS is being moved to another frequency though I don't see what the down time would serve. CBS began running HFStival promos on April 1st and they are apparently not a joke as they are still running. D all nine listeners are more flummoxed about why you bother with these threads of you don't like HFS. Maybe we should start ragging your posts about the oversaturated, undertalented formats on 11 stations in every city. Some people don't like musical twinkies.
