HFS2.....devolve......

WTGB HD2 better known as HFS2 has an All Request Weekend going and that would be so great!!!! IF they weren't playing groups like Foreigner,Aerosmith,Skid Row and others that fall under 98Rock or 97Underground territory. It seems to me that HFS2's listeners are still mostly in Baltimore rather than DC. I'm waiting for Crack The Sky,Face Dancer and Kix to play...if they haven't already. WTF?????? This isn't Hammerjacks Radio its SUPPOSED to be The Legendary HFS which was NOT mainstream/hair metal/glamrock or thrash....it was alternative and modern rock....and was a little more cerebral than The Block could puzzle out in its MadDog20/20 addled brain.

I really enjoyed the end of Summer all Request Weekend on HFS 2. Me, my girlfriend, my brother and about 3 of my friends send it alot of request and we heard alot of em during the weekend as we drank beer and cooked out back. It was VERY cool.

I really haven't seen HFS2 playing anything too off format, I don't really know what you are referring to as far as HFS2 playing 98Rock type rock. I heard GnR a couple times during 80s nite or an AC/DC but whatever, I like HFS having a flexable format, thats what makes it HFS. For the most part this station is closer to HFS on 105.7 playing new alt/rock, 90's HFS favorites, lesser heard singles, and really pulling some rare 80's and 70s stuff out on occasion and for the Saturday night 80's night. Overall thier playlist is excellent. Its huge. I could go on but..I love it, and so do my friends. They are awesome at playing alot of our oddball requests. I listen at work, school, home. I barely even use my I pod anymore.

As far as thier listener base, I have no idea, but I do know most ppl that are my freinds live in the Baltimore/Perry Hall/Bel Air area that listen. HFS2 is what we were shifted to after 105.7 went to all sports which is so boring. I wish they could either split the station between Baltimore or Washington or something, Washington's Alternative sorta annoys me since it was always Annapolis/Washington/Baltimore for so many years. Then it lived here for a few years on 105.7 and on HFS2 .

AnywayI think HFS2 is an excellent station and even have a logo I printed out and stuck on my biner for school since A LOT of ppl thought HFS 2 died in January.

By 98Rock music I mean GnR,Aerosmith,Slayer,Metallica,Zeppelin,Foreigner,Twisted Sister etc. Hair bands, thrash, glamrock, metal, death metal etc are not Modern,Indie,Grunge,TechnoIndustrial,Nupunk,Punk or any of the original HFS type music. I liked most of the all request format but those can be heard on 98Rock,Dc101 or 97Underground. HFS fans ahve fought and waited for HFS to return and it's done everything BUT return. WHFS was a unique station and that doesn't mix with corporate ideas of whats hot for the next 4 seconds.

I understand what you are saying. I just really have heard mainly HFS type band played on HFS. There are a few crossovers, but I agree that Metallica, Limp Biscut, Shinedown, some Korn, G and R, A/C, Aerosmith doesn't really fit the HFS alternative format. But back on old HFS they played everything. So I don't have a huge problem with hearding one GnR a week on a 80s show, or one AC/DC. A week, its not on thier reugular playlist. HFS2 is nothing like the cumbiness that is 98 ROCK. HFS2 is a very good radio station. 98 is bad. Channel 104.3 is boring, like into to 90s alt/rock or something.

I totally disagree saying that HFS has dont anything but return, except for Feb-July HFS2 really hasn't changed all that much. Live requests, special shows, its very cool. I liked hearing Neci DJ live on HFS2 in Baltimore in the mornings, its would be nice to hear some live DJs on HFS2 especially with the group that was there for the launch including Pat "Freeze", Cerphe, and Weasel. But overall I love the variety on HFS2.

OK first of all I'll admit this: I'm probably going to b*tch and whine unless hfs (lower case signifigant) is brought back to 99.1 where I can recieve it. It's cool that it's back in Bethesda where it all started but I couldn't get it then and knew nothing about it until 1983.

I also did not have the pleasure of hearing the launch on 94.7 HD2 and what must have been an awesome presence of hfs jocks from different eras. I remember hfs playing a MUCH broader range of music than the last years of the 99.1 frequency but it was rare that you ever heard many crossovers of 98Rock style rock,it was usually a deeper more interesting cut off the album than the commercial rock others played. If it were broken up into different styles with the DJs having thier own eclectic choices that would be fine,in fact GREAT!! but I don't want it to become a jukebox of cliche songs or compete directly with 98Rock. Thats where it got squirrely last time. It was once in its own class and not comparible to any other station in the area. I cannot recieve 94.7 at all so having HD would do nothing for me since Delawares country 94.7 fertilizes right over the signal.
