That's quite possible but I've never seen one, to be honest. I'm not a rabid fanboy of the Flashmic, I have a standalone recorder because I like stereo. But as far as all-in-one recorders, I haven't come across one that rivals HHB for serious and efficient ENG work. Sure, there are recorders with built-in mics etc, but most are way too cheaply built (ergo Zoom etc) and the ones that aren't are usually just too chunky and uncomfortable to use, such as the Sony PCM line. I think that to understand you have to be a journalist yourself and have some experience working in radio. It's all about reliability, convenience and performance, in that order. What it costs is really not that big of a deal. Especially considering that most recorders will be bought by a company and not by the individual journalist him/herself.
