Hi-Fi Club leaving Rational Radio

They or I can't afford the internet music license fees, and I've been having to create two different shows a week--one with music, and one without. Time's just too tight to keep that up, so Rational and I have agreed to drop the show. We're still on the other affiliates, so if you listen to the show in its long-time Sunday evening slot, just go to www.thehificlub.net and the Affiliates section, where you'll find the link to KLDE in Eldorado/San Angelo's streaming--the show streams 7PM-8PM there.

Still exporing other affiliate options...hopefully coming to the airwaves soon in Austin.
 
I never understood why you made a separate show for Rational in the first place. I mean, I understand the license part, I'm saying I didn't get why you would edit a show for a streaming station when it could be found in its entirety on a different stream. The music versions are the only versions I know and I just catch them on your site www.thehificlub.net I think it would be different if you were losing an on-air station, but with a streaming station you were really only competing with yourself, right? Anyway, best of luck Mike! You're bookmarked on my computer, so nothing will change for me on Sunday nights.

..and PoPo84, isn't there a Russ thread you should be commenting on somewhere?
 
I guess the other stations who stream (KLDE and KLSR) pay for the internet licensing for music...I leave that responsibility for that and ASCAP/BMI to the stations. Rational was afraid of getting in trouble, since this is the only music-type show they play (even at two songs a week or so.) So this keeps Rational happy and safe, and saves me a couple of hours a week. I didn't want it to come to this, and I feel like that, if things do change at Rational, I'm welcome back!

But even on my podcasts I post weekly on the Hi-Fi Club site, I delete the music (but I'm not putting anything in to replace it to make up the time.) So if the podcast times out at 38 mins, so be it, it's not for airplay. Rational needed nearly a full hour from me to keep it on the schedule...so I added a crapload of PSAs and old commercials and such to make up the difference.

And thanks very much for your dedication and well wishes!! I fixed the link to KLDE from www.thehificlub.net, so it will take you straight there with no opening-Window-Media-Player-first-and-typing-in-a-numerical-address...too much hassle. So listen Sundays 7-8PM instead at the KLDE streaming site.
