I'm Jesse. I live in Phoenix Arizona, and have done some DJing all over the western USA, including a night in Waikiki called "B sides", where I would play only rare '80s. If someone requested something typical, I would play something by the same artist that wasn't. I carried crates of records up stairs and all my equipment every week because it was a sports bar :-D We would turn off all the neon beer signs, TVs and crap, and had some simple lighting (before one could buy cheap LEDs and such). I'm looking to do something similar in Phoenix.
I have just created a list of my favorite 1000+ bands from the '80s, and included some bands that have that sound and spirit from 1978 and 1990. I am still adding to it.
I was inspired by Dave Rajput's Hotmixes, The DJs at The Blitz nightclub in Scottsdale, The Asylum club, Club UM in Tempe and will post about that later.
