Hi to any old friends from Cincinnati Radio

Althou it's been a long time since I worked there, a hello to those following Cincy radio. I just found this board - I'm Mark Elliott, formerly of Q102 (75-80) WLLT W-Lite 1988 and WCKY/WWEZ 1989-1992. I'm currently working in Paradise, otherwise known as Northern Michigan (Traverse City/Petoskey). If anybody trades old airchecks, I'd love to hear some old Q102 stuff from the 70's. Feel free to contact me at <ahref="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</href>. Congrats to CC on his new gig, heard the station for a little bit over the holidays but not enough to know anything. Look forward to hearing from you. Mark

Ok, so I'm not in Cincy, I'm in Columbus...but I used to compete against you at WSAI in 1976-77 when you did middays at Q. CC was there, Dickie Shannon, EAD, Ted McAllister, Jim Scott, Robert E. McKinley. Hope all's well in the town where you get "half the pay for a view of the bay"! One of the owners up there (Northern Broadcasting)slipped that line on me many years ago...hope you're doing great! CP

Great line. And it is one used by a lot of people. But it's a better place to learn radio (especially in the summer) than Wilmington and Xenia were, where I started out.

I haven't seen E. or Ted in a long time, when they used to locate right at the bottom of the escelator in the New Orleans Hilton during the NAB to talk to clients. I hear Jim Scott all the time..

WSAI was THE station where I wanted to be the star. All thru high school at Princeton, I idolized 'SAI. In 1975, I was in college, with a little bit of radio experience (including a year at 'TUE in Dayton), and was contacting Cincinnati stations looking for part time. Robin Mitchell wouldn't give me the time of day, but this new FM trying to be Top 40 had a punk first time PD who took the time to talk to me - even thou he lost my aircheck. Randy Michaels went on to other things, but he sure taught me a lot.

Thanks for the note. Do we know each other? [email protected]

Hey, Inventor. Looking at your CP initials, you wouldn't happen to be Casey would you?

Casey Petrowski

Was the CP here the one and only famous one? There is a house in Northern Michigan, around Harbor Springs, where the name on the mailbox is Petrowski. Always wondered if it was anyone related...

Isn't it Piotrowski?

From the www.epguides.tv web site: He wrote the episode of "WKRP in Cincinnati" entitled, "The Contest Nobody Could Win"...Casey Piotrowski

"The Contest Nobody Could Win"
gs: Vincent Schiavelli [ "Don Pesola" ], Tracey Walter [ Don Pesola ], ]; Ken Hill [ Photographer #1 ]; Gary Devaney [ Photographer #2 ]
Johnny, misreading a memo, announces the prize in a contest as $5000 when it's actually supposed to be $50. Andy and Venus come up with a plan to make the contest so difficult that no one can win.

Not Casey.

You are correct sir.

CC did replace Casey, although Casey was still there when I got there in 76. I was a big fan of Casey when he was the ubiquitous fill-in guy on WKBW Buffalo in the late 60s-early 70s...and at WSAI. He was one-of-a-kind. (Not that CC isn't!)
