HI_TACK's "Say Say Say(Waiting For You)"

This take on the Paul McCartney/Michael Jackson hit is starting to make inroads, and the infectous lyrics and melody are tight. Expect this one to be the "Love On My Mind" of 2006.

The track's okay I guess. Top 10 in the UK and Ireland. It's in heavy rotations at the Galaxy stations.
The Hi Track project is the same guys who had a hand in DJ Jean's production of "The Launch", and were also known as the Klubbheads in the mid to late 90s.

I don't like this track.

I don't think so. In fact I really don't like the tune due to its annoying vocals.
______________

It's okay. There is something about one part of the song where Michael sings the lyrics and Paul McCartney's sample of "baby" that, to me, is actually rather annoying.

Goes to show, dance music fans don't have to like everything out there :)

I dont care for it either. Its just another one of those tracks that just loops the same vocals from an older song, over and over again. I find the repetative vocals to be rather annoying, It has no song structure, not even a catchy instrumental hook.

It would be better if it were an actual sample of the original, but it isn't. You can tell that it's not Michael and that "Baby" line is certainly not McCartney. I like the track pretty well (I tend to like the looping, sampling type dance tracks), but it would have been much better if they used the original sample for the loop.

Like I said last year these acts will pull a Eric Prydz and milk these classic hits for all its worth. Just ask the Freemasons and their leading lady Amanda Wilson. I guarantee you they're making themselves, Jackie Moore and Tina Turner very wealthy every time "Love On My Mind" is sold at retail and spun at both radio and clubs. And with HI_TACK taking off at radio expect the same treatment.

There is... look for "Funky People - Waiting for You". My guess is this is the original bootleg from last Spring. Groove Dallas has been playing this since June of last year (2005). We have no plans on playing the "legal" Hi-Tack release.
Edited by julesism on 02/08/06 09:04 PM.

Oh yeah, without a DOUBT on that! That's pretty much what it's come down to for most dance music to get a better chance some sort of radio airplay....revamp a classic hit. Originals do break through yet it's something about what people know that just catapults it.

I suppose whatever it takes, but I'd like (as sure as we all do) for more original material to surface.
