High-Def Cooney & Curtis on 12

New groovy set and in High-Definition, but same great newsteam! Is the world really ready for Kev in HD?

First it was Sean returning to Phoenix at KPHO, and now the "New and Now" Cooney & Curtis in HD. Is there no end to the excitement?

No end indeed. Why, those thoughtful editors at McRepublic were savvy enough
to give it page one play this morning!

And did you notice the "incestuous relationship" disclaimer was buried in the
inside page?

Did the sweeps start today, or did Mc12 just decide on November 2 at random
to kick off HD?

I got a chance to see it in HD, but only on a 4:3 tv.

Once I get my LCD, then it will look good.

But, its still local news, written for the lowest common denominator and full of fluffy stupidity.

With the same field cameras, same pathfire, same cnn feeds, etc.
Too bad only the studio is in HD.

Kinda like being at a party, diggin' on the chips and dip.
Someone takes the dip away and all one is left with is some pretty good tastin' chips.

Where did the dip go?
Only so much to go around.

Just like the Republic (but with fewer typos)

I dunno, is it me, or does the entire newscast look lost? They can't seem to find which camera has the live shot, and at one point, instead of the graphic they wanted to show, they instead had side-by-side pictures of the same woman with the graphic underneath instructing them to * insert caption here * (I can't remember the exact wording).

Yesterday on their sports show between the end of the NFL game and the 10 PM news, the video trailed slightly behind the audio, which was good in a way, because it forced Dale Hellestrae to shut up before his lips actually stopped moving.

My impression so far: HDTV means every mistake you make is sharp and crystal-clear. :D

OK, after much waiting, and some pretty dry periods cash flow wise, I finally got into a good HDTV.

Waited for Costco to do a price drop. Got a 1080i LCD 46 inches for only $1650.

And, damn, I gotta say that KAET gets it, and the others broadcasting in 1080 do a great job.

Really enjoy the digital sound coming out too.

Now the question, anyone have any experience with Qwest and their HD offerings?

Legend City...
When my shop was tweaking their signal for HD, one of the engineers tuned to PBS HD signal from KAET (off air signal).

The detail and the texture from a helicopter fly over of a Louisiana antebellum estate was simply mind blowing.
Now I have to sell my car to afford the luxury of viewing KAET in all of PBS HD glory.
They showed a simple video clip of a lady working at her desk (8.1, I believe). It was like I was there, in the chair waiting for her to acknowledge me (welcome to life).

My bad, Cooney and Curtis in HD?
Unless a antebellum estate is thrown in via Sky-12...
See my previous post.

KAET (PBS) does get it.

My turn is coming. I'll have HD.

Well, channel 10 has the Cardinal game today, but only in 720, at least channel 5 does the games in 1080.

But, who watches the Cards anyway?
