High Definition Radio

Do you think New York City radio stations should register their HD subchannels for ratings?? Other markets do that and their stations are doing swell.

There is no such thing.
Do you mean Hybrid Digital radio?

“HD” stands for nothing. Not High Definition, not Hybrid Digital. Just "HD". The name came, indirectly, from HDTV and was an effort by the radio industry to make the new radio system sound modern, and not as technical as IBOC.

All licensed services are automatically “registered” if they are FCC licensed in the metro. Every one is given a PPM encoder if they so choose, even if they are not subscribed.

None are doing “quite well” in ratings.

HD Radio is the name, not “High Definition”.

What stations that are just on an HD signal are doing well in "other markets?" I'd love to know. Most are using the HD channels to feed a translator.

Or leased out to ethnic programmers who do formats in Hindi, Russian, Farsi, Vietnamese, etc.
