High school Football time

High school football time. Many new playoff possibilities. With digital broadcsting right around the corner, how will it impact local sports coverage? Could there be a local radio version of yes network?

Just read in the CV yesterday that WNAK will not have Nanticoke games... not sure about the rest of the Route 81's.

Canio Costanzo will be anchoring coverage on audiosportsonline.net, internet only games around the WVC.

It's similar to what the Black Diamond Sports Net does with Southern Columbia and Shamokin games.

WAZL will have the entire Hazleton HS schedule, and a couple of Bishop Hafey games. Fred Barletta will call for Hazleton while Joe Clark & Jack Ritz call for Hafey.

Mike left WNAK a few months ago. He is now working at Dundee Beverage.

WNAK will not be doing Nanticoke games exclusively this year, but will be doing WVC (is it still called that?) games. Believe this will be on the 730 AM signal only and that Mike Kaye will be the play-by-play man. First broadcast will be Fri, Sept 1, Bishop Hafey at Nanticoke.

When WNAK was simulcast, it was easy to split for local sports; that option is now gone.

No football on 106.5 this year... Berwick will be on 103.5 and 1280.

We are doing State College games on ESPN Radio 1450 WMAJ in State College once again this season. Three of them will air on our sister AM 1390 WRSC because of PSU conflicts on Saturdays.

Plus we are doing our own scoreboard show since RoPa is no longer doing one. It airs from 10-11 every night, coaches, highlights, reporters, etc. We also got this show "syndicated" in Altoona on WFBG/WVAM and also WHUN.

All of our stuff is streamed online at www.1450espnradio.com or www.msasportsnetwork.com

Also a quick note, 1490 WLPA in Lancaster is NOT doing Manheim Central this year. They currently have a contract to carry the Lancaster Barnstormers, which will interfere with the football season, so they have opted to NOT carry MC Barons this season.....maybe later on and if they make the playoffs, yes, but not at the start of the season.

WPDC and WOYK are doing games again this year too, 1600am in ETown and 1350 in York.

1460 the Ticket here in Harrisburg is doing all of the Cumberland Valley games plus they are also picking up Bishop McDevitt home games this season too.
