High School Graduation LIVE on the radio!

The high school here has 1 graduating senior this year & we’ll broadcast the ceremony on KSKO. We had No graduates last year and 4 in 2021

I'm just doing what i think is right. Our job at KSKO is to promote, be a champion for and support the communities we broadcast to. Stuff i do here is so insanely local, alot of other stations couldnt do it.. but being local and making a positive impact on our communities is what KSKO should be doing, and its FUN to come up with local things to do/broadcast... i couldnt care any less if it doesnt involve me.. lets highlight the community!

I don't know if they still do it, but KWIX and KRES in Moberly, Missouri were notorious for broadcasting high school graduations...and athletics banquets...and FFA banquets...throughout north central Missouri...and selling the crap out of them. This type of programming was a big part of Jerrell Shepherd's business model. KRES is a full class C FM.

Looks like *I* will be speaking at the graduation since the lone graduate is also an employee of mine at KSKO

7pm this friday, the 12th.. we're 4 hours behind eastern

We stream at kskopublicradio.com

Will this graduate have to deliver both the valedictorian and salutatorian speeches?

LOL I dunno how that works.

This will be interesting though.... get it on the air, pray the internet holds up, zip down to the school 4 blocks away on my ATV, wait my turn to speak and zip back to the station

Dunno if you can get a couple of photos up for those of us that might not get the chance to listen in...you know, for your imaginary Internet friends out here. ;)

I will see what i can pull off, if i remember.. i should have time for a few photos

Alright, here we go, dumped out of Fresh air early, playing some grad related songs till the grad walk starts about 710pm.

Alright, since one or two of you asked about photos, I was able to take a few. Here they are

This is the community BBQ the graduates family held at 5pm, before the ceremony. The graduate is the tall young man in black standing up at the table next to the guy sitting in the fleece and hat. The lady in black taking a photo is our outgoing superintendent.

this is the ceremony near the end, the man at the podium is the McGrath school principal and high school grades teacher

This is after the ceremony, everyone is eating cake. The folks in the front row, starting with the guy in blue, is the graduates family.

Is only one graduate normal? Are there years in which every student in the district is in 11th grade or below and no commencement ceremony is held? Or does a normal year produce a half-dozen or more grads?
