Highbrow conversations on Rick and Bubba

I listened today for the first time to Rick and Bubba on WSB.....and was I surprised!
Now this is probably the kiss of death.....but I thought it was an outstanding show!!
They had as a guest, Dr. John Lennox, who is on the staff at Oxford(England-not Alabama,)has a PHD in Math, and lectures across the globe on Christian apologetics. Very interesting conversation! I must admit that Rick and Bubba's questioning could be described as "accessible" but it was still quite amazing that a "redneck radio show" would attempt such a complex topic. Next week it's time travel and carbon dating.
On WGUN....at the same time....was Paula Gorden interviewing an author who wrote a biography about Albert Einstein. Einstein was one of the most eccentric people to populate the earth in the last couple hundred years......I always wanted his hair.....and to hear stories about his life is always cool!
Radio is truly on a hellbent ride to damnation if people like me are happy with the programming!!
No doubt Paris Hilton interviews tomorrow will balance out these radio programming anomalies and return us to the radio vortex we all know and love.....

Tom... you incredible slut... :)

I used to watch R&B on Turner South some and listen online to them on occasion. They are pretty sharp good ole boys really. Bubba came from the engineering side of radio, is a pretty active ham from what I hear.
I enjoy listening to them.

Engineer huh? Well that explains it!
I think our minds were damaged by watching the glowing tubes in television sets when we were kids. Ask any engineer....radio or TV....he used to watch the TV repairman fix the TV set (or radio set) when he was a kid. It was the allure of the glowing tubes.....

Bubba was the Chief Engineer of WAAX 570 AM and WQEN 103.7 FM in Gadsden back in the early 1990's. He got his start with Rick doing a bit called ""Good Old Boy Theatre" on The morning show. Bubba also had something to do with the 50 kW AM in Jacksonville Alabama years ago. He might have found the allocation and put it on the air?

WQEN later became a Birmingham move with Rick and Bubba on the morning show. This was the start of their rise in popularity.

Math?? Einstein?? UGH! Come on, people, where are your priorities??!! ::)

What sorts of fashions will Paris Hilton wear in jail???

:D

This statement answers the question we had about Tom Taylor of the late 80's, early 90's...what's the deal with Tom's hair?

Taylor, do you not remember the days before you were married?

You once had Einstein hair. I remember the days when your hair didn't know what a comb or brush was. I swear, back in the day, everyone thought you were the illigitimate child of Einstien and Don King! You always looked as if you had just rolled out of bed.

This is not a knock on Tom, he always smelled clean. He only looked like Ted Kaczinsky's roomate in the 1 room mountain cabin in Montana. ;)

No, our minds were damaged by fiddling with the glowing tubes, which is why the repairman was called in the first place. ;D

This was there popularity with a few clear channel execs.

Isn't that Steve and Vicki's show for the rest of the month?

Hahahahahaha!! Nice! ;D

It's probably that, and minute-by-minute accounts of the feedings, droolings, and diaper-changings of Anna Nicole Smith's baby. :D

List of subjects I would like to explore further on the radio:
1. Abnormal attraction to large objects.
2. The object science of thongology.
3. David Paul: bionic inversion or warm, fuzzy hamster.
4. Modulated furnace heat: the next "hot" media to replace radio.
5. Persons suffering from Left-Right brain cancellation.
6. Without sex would we even notice that Sheryl Crowe exists?
Some ideas for more intellectual entertainment on the Rick and Bubba show. I have forwarded these suggestions to Bubba.
