Highway VIBE 99.7

so i know 99.7 has a booster on sunrise mountain (i think??)..but the station still sounds weak at least on the east side and near the strip....any idea if they have money or plans to build a regular stick or maybe more booster's around the valley??? they sound great for a small company trying to compete with the big boys in vegas.thanks.

Mutliple boosters around the valley would not be practical. Since boosters, by definiton, are on the same frequency, the mixes, phasing, multipath etc. would be horrendous. Everywhere they overalpped, the signal would be unlistenable. Multiple Translators, on separate frequencies, while theorietically possible, would probably not be feasable due to lack of frequencies.

Highway Vibe started out as an overnight Dance CHR show on The Highway Stations in July 2011 after the format's original station, Vibe 94.5 FM, flipped to Jelli Rock, and they were promoting to the former Vibe listeners that they could expand the show by 1 hour for every 1000 likes the facebook page got. They started off 12am-4am, and after reaching 1000 likes on the new page, it was expanded to 5am.

Then in early September, they launched made Highway Vibe a 24/7 Dance CHR format on KRXV/KHWY/KHYZ with the usual traffic and weather + promos for what's coming up in Vegas and Laughlin, and over time they began blending in more of the original Hot AC format. It was an awesome blend that would have pleased Hot AC lovers and Dance enthusiasts alike (perfect because many have said that Vegas is like the new Ibiza), with a cool sound and chill personality (as opposed to now it's got your usual Hot AC feel with a "sassy" [or "snobby" in my opinion] personality just like the old 92.7 Jill FM in LA); then overnight shifting more toward a Pure Dance format.

All that was until 3 days before Thanksgiving in 2011 when they fired Mike O, and The Vibe transitioned into an internet-only station at www.myvibelv.com. The Dance format was axed at midnight and they reverted back to their Hot AC format (for awhile they were keeping 1 Dance track in rotation per hour until those tracks grew old), but kept the Highway Vibe name (but with new imaging, voiced by Jodie Rocco) and logo. It's the same logo as was used on 94.5, see http://bjornwallman.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/vibe_1.jpg

The funny thing is that the V on the logo is supposed to resemble back when Vibe 94.5 would do their weekly club events, and the DJ would shout out "Throw up your V" and everybody would make a V with their fingers. (Hold your right hand up sideways, make a fist, but put your index finger completely up, and your middle finger halfway up, and there you have it) In 2009 and early 2010, when Vibe 94.5 was voiced by Mitch Craig, they had a liner that said "Show your V to everyone you see!" (The Vibe was later voiced by St. John for a few months, then Rich Van Slyke became the voice of the Vibe in late 2010 and remains to this day, coincidently the same guy that voiced The Drive) ... So, therefore the logo Highway Vibe is using has no relevance to any of their marketing, but has everything to do with the original Vibe. I've noticed they've been using a red colored logo on their adopt-a-highway signs.

I don't understand why they don't just go back to their original brand "The Highway Stations", because it fits well with their original intended purpose of being a highway traffic information station with music and promoting upcoming events in Vegas. See the original logo here, http://www.bestdealstvshow.com/images/stories/logos/highway-stations.jpg

I laugh at how long it took them to fix their legal ID, Jodie Rocco announced "KHYZ Mountain Pass ... KHYZ Essex ... KRXV Yermo ..." hourly for OVER A YEAR.

Forgive me if I seem bitter... because I am... Vibe 94.5 was my favorite radio station of all time, and The Highway Vibe (Sept 2011-Nov 2011) was quite possibly the most ingenious incarnation of the Vibe brand yet, and best of all, it was audible (more or less) via KRXV 98.1 from my (now former) home in Lancaster, CA. Now what was once one station, has become two: 1) The Vibe - the original unique Dance CHR format, which has just become not much more than a playlist on an internet stream, and 2) The Highway Vibe - which has a familiar name and logo but bears no resemblance to The Vibe which Vegas has come to know and love.

Since the thread got hella bumped, I might as well post my $.02

Go to Jelli! They got everything! EDM, Country, Pop, Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop, Rap, and R&B

Jelli 96.7 is all EDM. Its signal is better than 94.5 the Vibe. Almost all of The Vibe's Vegas listeners moved to Jelli 96.7.

Their studios in Barstow station still has the old Highway 98-99 logo, not the Highway Vibe logo. They should go back to their old Highway logo. As for the 99.7 FM Frequency, it sounds a little static around the strip. I wonder why they can't move their signal to Mt Potosi instead of Black Mountain and upgrade to Class C instead of Class B.

The hiway stations are looking at improving their coverage from the Arden location. They may be moving to a better site on the Mt.

Highway Vibe

They probably don't have any space on Potosi! I hear there is a waiting list for anything to be installed in the future for Potosi!
