Duke...no big deal. It's called growing your younger audience. He still has a job, gets to go home at a decent time and gets paid the same. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

Madison...bad rep coming from The Rebel. Not a favorite in the building. Not a big loss.

Pete...was demoted when he was moved to The Wolf almost 2 years ago. The move from middays to afternoons is a PROMOTION, if there is such a thing on that POS station. Maybe it's a sideways move at best, but not a demotion.

What's the BIG one? Bill Whyte not being renewed? Again, if B is trying to grow their young audience, which appears to be the case and is something they haven't done effectively in a few years, that's not a bad move. It may not be popular with the 45+ crowd but that's not where your future core listeners are coming from. You need to hook them when they're 18-24 that way they're P1's when their in the core advertising demo of 25-44.

And why wouldn't you? When Star was about to go full-blown on 94.9 as The Wolf, Entercom pulled off a deal to keep B the #1 country station, and it was 12th hour deal. Who's to say a station like 94.1, who still isn't pulling great numbers, won't give country a shot and try to pull the 18-34 demo? Travis could be making these moves to prevent such a thing or to beat them to the punch. Smart move.

Bill Whyte is out. Not renewed. Mornings when from dismal to #4 two books ago to #1 18-34 adults. It's more than the numbers. PD Travis Moon is bringing in a buddy. If it works, he'll be a hero - if not, the goat. Let's see how the chemistry between the new kid and Amanda is.

New morning show as stated. Chris Carr is the guy.

That show has been top 3 25-54 (with quite a few #1s) over the past 3 or 4 years.

Looks like the "Killer Q" Jim Bryant days are back

Love you, Love your show (until we fire you next)

I love this busines, but man, I hate it too. I'll admit I don't know Whyte on a personal level to know if something other than job performance led him out, but on the surface, it looks like a guy who showed up to do his show everyday the best he could, brought the station good numbers, and gets this crap in return. Whatever.

I actually liked the whole Killer Q imaging at the time. Though didn't last very long and the next year if I remember correctly they flipped to Hot AC.

As far as Bill Whyte being out for the PD's favorite, it could work or it could be like Corey Patterson leading off hitting under .200

He's the reigning CMA major market personality of the year. I have a CC source in AZ that said apparently CC/Premiere had designs on syndicating him nationally live ala "Blair Garner". I'm assuming that he must be pretty good. Sounds like a big hire but time will tell.

Winning an award means little in this day and age. You can do little, but have the title of MD in front of your name and it means everything as long as you sent something in for the award process. Remember, when you win one of those awards you win based on who sent something in. Everyone is not in the running! The best may not be the best, they're the best of what was sent in for what they could "offer" in the way of PDs and MDs working with those who make he choices, win these awards usually. Just a word of advice before you denounce Bill Whyte or praise Carr.
