What is going on in these markets these days. At one time Triad had the tiger by the tail and the last word I had they were tanking. There were some good stations in that group.

I read today where the Beach, Boogie, and Blues station (with some jazz) was sold .. if Triad was smart they'd cash in on that and try to steal some of that audience.

John FM SOLD!

John FM was sold on the 10th to a "Lowcountry Radio, LLC". C.J. Jones, Joe Mule, and Joel Garrett are all partners in it and besides the sale info, I can find very little on the names or the newly-created LLC.

Obviously, it ain't gonna be John FM anymore...since "John" isn't saying what to play anymore. Will the beach music stay? It's generated quite a buzz here in Beaufort over the last couple of years. I'd like to see something else good pop up on there, personally.

And did anybody see the sale price? $650k TOTAL?? Most of it in notes??? God, that makes me wish I had more money than common sense!

The 12+ numbers were posted yesterday afternoon with some big chagnes. Did you guys see the WDOG jumped way up over WGZR. Seems all of Triad's stations took some hits, some more than others. What do you guys see as the problem (s)? Later today the numbers come out for Savannah.

And it's funny too since you can't even pick up WDOG until you get around Ridgeland...that's 2/3rds of the market that can't even pick you up! And considering the western counties are not too populous, that must mean a 30 share for WDOG. Same goes for the Wiz.

I also saw WWJN had their best ratings in years on 104.9 last period.

WGZO seems to have lost some ground last period in both HHI and Savannah. WLOW is slipping a little as well...since there are 4 stations playing some type of "listen-while-you-work" nonsense in the area.

I still don't see why there isn't standards back on some sort of FM signal. I know everybody says "old demographics are tougher to sell"...and that's true, but you will have a very loyal listener base AND unlike other places, most of Hilton Head's elderly seem not to be as worked up about fixed incomes or pensions as they are about getting a good tee time at their country club.

Why does Triad's Oldies station not do better in the market? Seems to me the demographic is certainly there for the station to be gang busters!
