Hip Hoppen on the Country

This evening at about 5:50 PM KISS FM was interfering with a good song, "Moments" by Emerson Drive on KNIX... Actually went to totally KISS for over 5 minutes, and I even heard a KZZP legal id in there. I've never heard this happen before, so I was wondering what went wrong in the CC control room?! :( They eventually got it back to KNIX fully, but not before some cross over with hip hop and a Casino AZ and Ray Vincent commercial!!! Interesting... Did anybody else notice this?? Do any posters on this board listen to country :)

Clear Channel Phoenix now uses the Harris VistaMax System; quite possibly one of the worst systems ever conceived of by any life form in this or any other Universe. Perhaps that's a bit melodramatic, however everyone I know seems to have issues with it for sure. When Clear Channel initially installed this system, Mix 96.9 was playing four stations at once... talk about a Mix! While KYOT had KFYI in the left channel--ironically enough. Occasionally, other stations pipe in, random elements play over the air and elementary chaos ensues. Maybe some of the same brain trust from the Scott Studios family had a hand in VistaMax :)

Funny you should mention playing several stations at one time...

A friend of mine once suggested that we should try "playing songs at the same time" to see how it would sound. Well, we picked Siouxise and the Banshees and another song from a group that I can't remember and played them on the air at the same time. Good times, good times. ;D

The program director was not impressed, but several listeners thought it was fun.

I've used StationPlaylist Creator, Scotts Systems, and NexGen.

Sadly, StationPlaylist Creator was probably the best, although it's not that great at voicetracking. It was the cheapest, under $500.

I think for the money the other systems are atrocious! And it sounds like this whole "hip-hoppin' in the country" incident is an example of how weak most automation systems are there. I can't figure out how CC can be so patient with a computer... yet if a human being made a mistake like that, they'd be thrown out the door.
