His Radio's Northeast GA expansion

RTN the owners of the Christian AC His Radio network is buying 88.9 WMSL Athens to bring the network to more people. RTN already bought 90.9 WRAF and markets it as Gainesville-Toccoa-Athens but it does not serve Clarke County with a great signal so 88.9 will help that greatly for Athens and UGA.

I just listened to HIS Radio's stream last hour. I'm listening to 88.9 The Reach's stream now as I'm typing up this post and the flip hasn't happened yet. They must be waiting till New Year's to flip. Of course, when they do flip, the WMSL stream won't work anymore. I know I'm going to miss Amanda Carroll. She makes a good alternative to Sunday mornings whenever the Sounds Of Faith stream is down. I know her syndicated show's target demographics are single mothers since she's a single mother herself, but it does still sound good for men to listen to since I'm a man. On HIS Radio via their flagship 89.3 FM WLFJ in Greenville, SC, she's on overnights. Unfortunately, I can't stay up late to listen to her overnights. It looks like whenever the Sounds Of Faith stream is down, I'll have to listen to HIS Radio's Internet Praise channel via WLFJ's HD3 sub-channel. That's okay. WMSL is definitely in good hands with RTN. RTN does own 93.3 The JOY FM WVFJ back in Atlanta. Anyway, that is all.

We are now 2 weeks into the new year in 2018 and WMSL hasn't flipped their programming. They are not yet simulcasting HIS Radio WLFJ. The flip may be in either spring or summer. It's only a matter of time. That is all.

Well I see i was slightly wrong about the RTN upcoming purchase of WMSL Athens. I just read in a hisair.net interview with Joy FM Tampa PD Carmen Brown that They Joy FM will air in Athens so I assume that will be Joy FM programming out of WVFJ and will join the main 93.3 signal and its Lilburn 92.5 translator. So this means that The Joy FM will compete in Athens with the sister His Radio Network serving the Carolinas and parts of Georgia. On HD radio Joy is already on the HD2 signal of 99.3 which covers a large part of North Georgia.
