Hispanic Radio in Jax and MS.

Guys....
(and ladies).....

Kinda left Miss after the big storms last year and lost my contacts.

780am in Jackson, WIIN has switched to Hispanic format early in the summer. Is it still there and working?
Any other competition or changes coming this direction?

I'm wondering also if this format might work in Quitman or the AM in Grenada... or any silent AM... or any
other station. That market demo is certainly growing in C. Miss for certain. I did demo study to look at it for Brandon or some other frequency before WIIN got on the bandwagon.
It might have even worked on the new Vicksburg FM.

Are there really that many hispanics in central Ms? I certainly don't recall seeing a sizeable number in Jackson the few times I've visited.

Aside from the ones at the two Mexican restaurants here in Grenada, I've never seen any in this region. Don't think there's enough yet to support a station in this region. Memphis has two Spanish language stations, and the one on 1030 AM puts a signal down this way; I reckon that scoops up the few hispanic radio listeners there may be here.

I can attest to that category being high growth - in about 5 years Birmingham went from 0 to 3 Spanish language stations. All rimshots on AM, but a presence nonetheless. I worked with several Latinos in a previous job. They were all pretty good guys, but none of them ever listened to music on the radio. CDs - and tons of them!
