Historic Packers/Steelers radio questions

I want to get this asked while 5 hours remain until kickoff...

What was the Packers flagship station and the extent of its radio network during the Lombardi era?

And I ask the same question regarding Steelers radio during the Steel Curtain era in the '70s.

Who were the announcers working beside Myron Cope and Ray Scott?

Thanks in advance.

Don't have my files in front of me, but Tom Moore called the games on radio on WTMJ (and the Packer radio network) during most of the Lombardi era. Ray Scott was the TV commentator for the Packers from 1956-1963, 1965-1967 on CBS. Earl Gillespie did the TV games in 1964. Tony Canadeo worked with Scott for most of those years.

As for the Myron Cope era, Jack Flemming called pxp with Cope for the dynasty years in the 1970's and 1980's. Fleming also did West Virginia football on the radio. The flagship was WTAE.

Hope this helps.

From 1970-1998, I believe, WTAE 1250 was the flagship station of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cope also hosted a talk show on the station.

Tom Moore played for the Packers during the Lombardi era. The Packers' radio announcer then was Ted Moore on WTMJ.

An interesting radio sidelight from the 1962 NFL Championship Game, Packers at Giants. WNEW's broadcast in New York was canceled due to an engineer's strike. New Yorkers not only had to deal with a TV blackout, they couldn't listen to Marty Glickman. We had to tune to WNBC which was broadcasting NBC's national radio feed. The announcer was Ted Moore!

The Packers defeated the Giants, 16-7. I still remember Ted Moore's call of the game-clinching FG. "Two minutes to go...Jim Ringo over the ball at center...There's the snap...Starr places the ball down...There's the kick by Kramer...It's long enough...deep enough...will it be good?...It is good and the Green Bay Packers have iced the 1962 Championship as they lead the New York Giants, 16-7!"

Strange but true! :(
