I have been doing quite a bit of research on the history of Indiana radio lately. The problem that I am finding is that there are SOOOO few resources to find information that I need.

Any places, other than Radio Service Bulletins (which I have on my computer), where I can find more information on Indiana Radio Station history?

Any help would be appreciated.

i know there was a book about 15-20 years ago that was mostly geared towards the chicago suburbs, but it had a few chapters that covered the northwest indiana area history pretty well. john russell ghrist was the author. sorry i cant remember the name of the book.

First, some stations are detailed on http://www.indianaradio.net under the Archive. Second, Ghrist's book is called Valley Voices: A History of Radio Broadcasting in Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana from 1910 to 1992. Finally, the Indiana Historical Society published a book in 1999 - In the Public Interest: Oral Histories of Hoosier Broadcasters.

I don't know if Radio 'N Records has a data base of past publications but if there is one available it would be a good source of past Indiana reporting stations, formats, stories and personel movement. Is there anyone that would know if R 'n R offers this info?

I have sent information to the indianaradio.net. A very nice resource, even if a bit slow to be updated.

I will have to check out those two books.

Thanx a lot.

I've posted this before: the best book on early Indianapolis radio history is "From Crystal to Color: The WFBM Stations". Check it out at the IMCPL.
