Why are they so focused on prophesy rather than history and why the multiple programs on the apocalypse in all it's forms? During the first Gulf War, Saddam Hussien came under a lot of cable scrutiny that he might be "Mabus" or the Anti-Christ. That didn't work out for Saddam. Why has Nostradomas and other "seers" become regular TV fodder? Money? Publicity? Be like "War of the Worlds " and Orson Wells? any thoughts?

If I recall from the Gulf War panic, the anti-Christ would arise in the Middle East and bomb Europe with missles and provoke a major war with the West in which he ultimately looses after nearly destroying everything. Now they have dropped this scenario to go with a polar ice cap flip and Mabus has disappeared. Since Iran is run by a committee of loonies, rather than one man, I guess none of them are Mabus and North Korea isn't in the Middle East.

Is this stuff really bringing in the revenue?

The History Channel no longer shows history programs don't you know? With crap like Ice Road Truckers and airing shows that would have aired on the Discovery Channel back in the day there's no more room for history programming. So they moved it all to History International, for now at least.

I used to enjoy watching the History Channel until the network brass starting making changes to their programming.

Instead of the History Channel it should be renamed the Hitler Channel. Every other day there is someone on the air about Schicklegruber.

History and History International were the primary reasons I kept my satt subscription so long. When I'd either seen most of their shows and they repeated too often and/or got into non-history stuff I bailed.

Seems this change of content is a familiar theme with cable channels.

Hey, hey, hey! I like Ice Road Truckers. ;D I also enjoyed Ax Men for a season although I don't think that series came back for another season.

Who needs history anyway?? It's not as if we ever use it (or trigonometry, or biology, or political science, or.....) in our daily lives. :D

The History channel recently rebranded itself as "History", but lately, the programming I've enjoyed most have been the more science-oriented shows "The Universe" and "How the Earth Got Made". I like some of the messages inserted before commercial breaks, like "The Universe is brought to you in part by Progressive Insurance". This past week, they ran a show about Xmas and New Years hosted by Lewis Black that was only moderate funny...I don't get that at all. I watch "The Naked Archaeologist" reruns on History International too. My girl friend watches History and H.I. almost as much as any other channel.

I forgot to mention that I also enjoy Pawn Stars but I've completely forgotten about the show since the season finale of Ice Road Truckers a few months back.

The History Channel hasn't been the Hitler Channel for quite a while now. Not enough money in it. But last week was Hitler Week, with THC showing lots of WWII programming "in HD."

Unfortunately, HINT, SCI, MILT, BOOM, Fox Movie, Fox Soccer, GOL, NHLN, ESPN3...er...ESPN Classic, CBS College (or whatever it's called), ESPNU are all channels I cannot afford.
