History of network relays

before Fox began The OT on it's doubleheader weeks, anything scheduled in the in the 7PM/6PM slot would be joined in progress, what did NBC do when when it had the AFC package after the Heidi game? did it join programs scheduled in the 7PM/6PM slot already in progress or did they air them in their entirety?
 
For the most part, NBC would switch to another game, and then either air Dateline or have a postgame, depending on time. If a game ran past 8, then they'd delay the schedule.
