History Of Rock & Roll (WOGL)

It has been GREAT hearing Bill Drake's History Of Rock & Roll for the second year on a row (and after so many years of its original airing) on WOGL.

With all of the talk of a possible demise of Oldies on WOGL or a possible revamping of the format, I sincerely hope that this classic 52-hour radio show is not lost. It should continue to be a yearly tradition for years to come. I look forward to Labor Day next year to hear this classic again!

BTW, is has there ever been a syndicated show longer than 52 hours?

I tried to listen to it, but it seemed like every time I tuned in I was heearing Michael Jackson and/or disco. Gave up.

That's actually one of the things I like about the "History" special, at least last time I remember it running in Miami, when WAXY here was still doing Oldies (92-93, it's now Classic Rock WBGG)....Since it was recorded with the early 80s in mind (ca. 80-81), the newer musicwise the special gets, you'll hear alot of "oh wow" songs that are pretty much ignored these days...I remember hearing "Desire" by Andy Gibb on there....Pretty much an ignored song today, if not totally ignored.

It also goes into detail about more recent Oldies, such as Chic being accused of racism in "Dance, Dance, Dance", Lionel Richie's himself talks about the inspiration for "Easy", and Rupert Holmes chimes in on what "Escape" was about.
