Hit the Road Jack 92.9 WGTZ Eaton Dayton

"I never did understand that. I get that they’re masking the city of license. But why are they eating alive Dayton and Springfield? Not sure what that’s supposed to mean."

Disagree. It goes ot only along with the stationality, both then and now, but also makes you remember what in most areas is a throwaway line. The legal ID is usually boring. "WHBT, Carpenterville". Yawn. But "WGTZ, Eaton, Dayton and Springfield ALIVE" is memorable, and kind off the cuff. A+
Disagree? Disagree with what? Disagree with me not understanding what it means? That makes no sense.

That facility (then at 101.7) was just fine as a local Springfield station. Nothing has really worked on 101.5, going back to Click 101.5.
Who spawned the move: Them to go into the Dayton market, or WNKO in Newark so they could upgrade their signal? Never fully understood WNKO’s upgrade because they still are focused on Newark even though they cover the Columbus metro well now.

Sorry...I thought you didn't like the ID...not that you didn't get it. In a nutshell, "WGTZ, Eaton" is Z-93's legal ID ..."Call letters, City of License" The old Z-93 used a play on words, when doing the Legal ID. "WGTZ, Eaton, Dayton and Springfield ALIVE" was their way of jazzing up the traditional boring "WGTZ Eaton" Id guess if you want to know the real story behind it I'd reach out to someone who worked there, or the current PD now...if you care that much. If anything its memorable.
