Hit the road, JACK!

Maybe 100.3 could bring back the old KRLD formula...All News during morning & afternoon drive & the noon hour, filling the other hours with The Gentle Sound & News at the top & headlines at the bottom of the hour. 105.3 would need a new call sign, maybe KFAL (K-FAIL) ;D

If CBS were going to put News Radio 1080 on FM, it would be on 105.3 NOT 100.3. The new guys coming in will probably make changes at both statons. It would not suprise me to see them similcast the News on 105.3 I think Jack is billing ok and the ratings are not that bad and their overhead is low. I don't see CBS blowing up Jack. As far as AMP is concerned...Don't think they will try it in DFW.

LOL - Poor Jack, and they're not even being discreet about it as they would be in some circles, giving Jack the unceremonious heave ho in lots of markets. LOL

Does the Jack format do that poorly in DFW? (The numbers/stats you insiders post don't make much sense to this lay-person!) If so, that's too bad, because I really like it...

Wonder if CBS is considering doing the same thing here since WBAP is on FM now? Will be interesting to see now that David Henry has exited and Gilbert is entering CBS D/FW...

I wouldn't read too much into it. If CBS blows up Jack for talk, it will be because it wasn't meeting its margins and they felt talk would do better, not because they did it in Las Vegas or because WBAP is on FM now. Very few operators have that mentality.

Remember, Jack in Vegas performed poorly, probably much more poorly than it's doing on 100.3, and CBS will do whatever format they think will make them the most money. It really doesn't get any simpler than that!

From what I have read on RI News and some of the posts elsewhere they are going news/talk in some of the markets, i.e. Las Vegas. What manner of news/talk I do not know, but news/talk nonetheless.

I thought I just read this morning that Jack was doing pretty good here.

It's not "some" but just one... Las Vegas.

The FM that was Jack is going to simulcast CBS's news / talk AM, which like most AM's in the format, was doing poorly in 25-54 and going to FM or an FM simulcast generally solves this issue.

Thank you for that clarification. I have seen so many JACK gone thread topics.

It makes more sense for 105.3,they have the KRLD call letters. "Jack" is holding it's own and has very low overhead with no jocks. Once again, I don't see "Jack" going All News. I do see "The Fail" doing it however.

don't you people read the news? Or even recall news posted on this site? Talking about flipping The Fan, after they just spent millions to get obi-wan of sports talk to get the shit of the fan. Yea, that's what they're going to do, hire Bruce, then flip the fan to news talk, but the Cowboys on JACK FM, and have Greggo and Richie spinning Tex Mex on Mega.
